  • I opened the bottle and poured a small glass for an initial taste, then went back to it after an hour. I found the nose to be somewhat subdued, but did get little hints of blueberry, cherry, spice and maybe some smoke/almost incense. Very balanced, great mouthfeel and fairly long finish. Overall I liked this wine, but was hoping for a little more aromatically. I have one bottle remaining that I’ll probably hold onto for a number of years and see how it progresses.

  • Minimal sediment, color is dark purple. Out of the bottle the nose is a little bit of blackberry, forest floor, mushroom, perhaps a bit of smoke. Perfectly balanced, mild tannins: very long finish. Just keeps going and going... Very open right out of the bottle, initial impressions are that it will not need much time to be ready.

After 1.5 hours the wine is showing beautifully. It has an undeniable puissance, but the word that most describes it is "harmonious," with no note overshadowing the rest, and a lengthy finish.

  • In my humble opinion, the few reviews listed on CT underestimate this wine.

Immediately after opening, the aroma leaps from the glass. Fresh, pungent cherry, iron, and suburban grass. If you've ever witnessed a waiter bring fajitas to another table (and getting your hopes up in the process), then you'll recognize another scent: a passing whiff of smoky, mesquite meats and peppers.

The palate is effortlessly elegant. This stuff glides across your tongue, offering juicy strawberry, raspberry, brown sugar, and the faintest hint of wet stone.

At this stage, the tannins are integrating immaculately. Many critics have correctly identified this wine as a cellar selection, but this is doubtless a prime candidate for earlier drinking.

    95 points.

  • HDH Bordeaux Auction (Chicago, IL): Juicy and ripe; not quite as mineral and bright as the 2016 Chapelle LMHB. Fairly large-scaled, with oak use that isn't as prominent. There's still that minerality here, but it's just a little bit too large scaled right now. Without a doubt, this will be a great wine with more time.

  • Ode to France, les Accabailles and the Crus Classés de Grave (Château Carbonnieux): The attack is elegant and the palate texture smooth. Some density albeit a hint of extraction that makes the winemaking more "noticeable". Give it time in your cellar and it should be fine in a five years or so.

  • Refined, poised, silky and fresh, the wine is already showing its smoky, earthy, stony fruits. Medium bodied and with a nice salty hit ot the tannins, give this 4-5 years in your cellar and enjoy it for the next 15 years after that..

  • Elegant, finesse styled wine with layers of sweet, ripe, juicy, cassis, blackberry, espresso, spice, earth and tobacco. Fresh, clean, complex and long it's hard to believe this is the second wine! The wine was produced from blending 51.3% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13.1% Cabernet Franc and 2.6% Petit Verdot. The wine reached 13.6% alcohol.
