Eðalklúbbur, haustsmakk #1 2023 (Marbakkabraut 12): Loftað í 2 tíma. Hefði líklega þolað lengri loftun. Mjög dökkur litur. Í nefi: Mjög dökk ber, jörð, sveppir, grænir tónar - paprika. Blár ópal (þetta var Bolli). Svo á tungunni: Hvítur pipar, lakkrís, tjara. Hrjúf tannín. Víð áttum í miklum vandræðum með að staðsetja þetta vín. Einhverra hluta vegna fannst okkur þetta ekki vera Bordó. Mjög fínt vín samt sem áður. Þetta og svo El Palacio vínið uxu allan tímann. Þau eiga bæði mikið eftir.

Drinking well now with just a bit of air. Took from cellar, brought to room temp, and opened at a restaurant. No decanting It was a bit closed at first, but opened nicely in the glass. 14% alcohol with some forward, New World characteristics. The bit of air helped enough that decanting is likely the best route if you are drinking now.
Much like the last comment; this is still young, dark purple, compact, lots of fruit and very enjoyable now; but will surely get much better over the next 3-10 years.

Drank this at Hua Yu Wee for dinner with my university mates. We ordered green dragon vegetables, seafood roll, char siew, deep fried chicken, yee fu noodles, and chili crab with mantou.
Deep purple with a dark red garnet core. Beautifully aromatic on the nose with seductive blueberry notes. On the palate, the wine is well balanced with sufficient acid, alcohol and body for aging and character to keep the drinker engaged.
2016 is poised as a good vintage, and if the quality of this wine reflects the quality of the vintage, then there really is a lot to look forward to to drink in the years to come.

Still very young. The oak is very prominent on the nose. Sweet plum, blueberry palate, with black licorice finish. Medium to full body, medium tannins. Modern in style, would have guessed Washington Merlot if tasted blind. Give this plenty of air or more time in the cellar. Good juice. 91-92 with upside.

What a great wine! Previous review described this as a "right bank Ducru" and I completely agree! Rich, dark fruited but clean on the palate and not a sloppy mess. The character of beautifully ripe 80% merlot and 20% cab franc expresses itself beautifully. This is wonderfully approachable and enjoyable now and will only improve over the coming years. Bravo!

Best Chateau Corbin ever. Annabelle has been making great wines for nearly 20 years but she has now brought her property to a new level. 2016 was the first vintage with new cellars, allowing vinification parcel by parcel. This is really more a Pomerol than a St. Emilion. It is quintessential Merlot, but not over the top Parkerized yuckiness like the rest of what we see in the neighborhood. This is 14% alcohol but completely masked, balanced, like a right bank Ducru. Subtle oak. Splendid, splendid rich deep purple color. A beautiful, classy, balanced, traditional right banker. As good a value as you'll find in Bordeaux. Drink now and for the next 20 years. 94+ points.

Deep color; deeper than the '15. Nose > Rich, ripe red cherry. Nice freshness. Again, very Merlot, but redder, tighter fruit than the '15. Palate > Ripe, lean, rich red fruit. Lively. Both ripe & linear. Excellent freshness & balance. Rich, firm tannins. Medium intensity. 14% ABV 48 hl/hc (3 tons/acre) 83% Merlot, 17% Cab Franc

Medium-bodied, elegant and refined, with lovely, fresh, sweet, red fruits, silky tannins and floral aromatics, the wine is bright, refined and finesse driven. There is purity in the fruit, length and energy here.

I usually love this estate but the tannins come across as just a bit hard. It is very good, sure, but why not spend your money on the already in bottle 2014, which conveys greater freshness and just as much succulence. 89-91

Plums, licorice and floral aromatics with a hint of cocoa on the nose. On the palate, the wine is soft, fresh and more concentrated than usual with a finesse driven, dusty, elegant, sweet, polished, vibrant finish. There is purity in the fruit, length and energy here. The wine was made from blending 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc, reaching 14.5% alcohol and aging in 50% new French oak barrels. For fans of this wine, you should know, this is best wine yet, made from Corbin!

I was pleasantly surprised by this wine but suggest drinking at one sitting as it didn’t get better over the 3 days I drank.
