Red and black plum, hint of tar and rose petal on the nose, maybe hinting at truffle in the future. Subdued plum and berry fruit, lighter concentration. A finessed style, needs a bit of time to show better. Well balanced and nice, I like this style, if not the greatest concentration or complexity.

Awkward and angular when first opened, but fruit and oak emerge with air and blend nicely. Better the 2nd day. Merlot 83%, Cabernet Franc 17%. A wine more of finesse than power. Like virtually all Pomerols, you're paying for the appellation, not necessarily the quality of the wine.
Merlot-dominerad. Gott hur som!

Aged leather red, mature fruit nose, softened since last tasted, stewed fruit may or may not cover for the oak. Has the mid palate depth to please admirers of overripe wine. To my taste, not not Pomerolish, not Bordeauxish not aging well.

0.375 L bottle late Oct 2020: deep purple red color; not decanted by the host (which was a mistake); the first two glasses showed a very restrained nose; mellow and lactic on the palate accompanied by weak dark berry notes; finally, after about one hour with the third glass, the wine opened up and presented a still slightly restrained bouquet of cherries, cassis and plum mixed with herbal fragrances; on the palate the mellowness was balanced by a prounouced acidity and distinct tannins could be perceived in the cheeks. 88-89+?/100
This half bottle La Pointe 2016 was clearly in infant stage. I would wait at least another 3-5 years before opening another bottle or if you cannot resist decant for >2 hours.

A whiff of serious fruit. First taste is oak and menthol. Fruit is deep but hindered by tannins. I was not expecting this given the professional reviews - not at all drinkable in September 2020. Aeration does nothing due to the oak. Tannins may round in time however the oak?
La Pointe's 2016 is an opaque ruby blend of 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc. Packed with black cherries, dark plums, lavender, tobacco and savory herbs, it is a medium-bodied red with fresh acidity, seamless alcohol (14%), well-proportioned oak and plentiful silky-textured tannins. Nicely dense on the mid-palate and concluding with a lengthy, mineral-driven finish, this is a delicious Pomerol that should reach its twentieth birthday with grace. If you can resist, give it a couple of more years in the cellar before imbibing. Drink 2022-2036.

Concentrated full body Bordeaux. 85% merlot, 15% Cabernet franc. Very good, easy drinker. Elegant, savory, berry forward, lavender at the end, low acidity, little tannin. Very good. Total Wine 10/2019 59.99

Typical right bank, but still difficult to judge on its potential, hence a conservative rating at this point. Nose and mouth still dominated by fresh red fruit, menthol and tannins, covering barely perceptible wood, liquorice and cocoa aromas. Roast aromas and herbal notes to be sorted, but I believe that time will sort this. To be revisited.
Quite likeable and seductive actually. La Pointe is getting better and better. Hats of to Hubert de Bouard for his consulting here. Tried a second time and the sample not quite as good, but benefit of the doubt: 90-92

Polished, soft plums and chocolate with earthy black cherry to complicate matters, the fruit is juicy, medium bodied and shows dark chocolate in the finish.

The 2016 vintage UGCB tasting in Amsterdam 2/25/2019; 2/25/2019-2/27/2019 (Amsterdam): Lovely acidity that makes the wine refined from start to nearly the finish; than the wine becomes a bit rough, so give time to mature.
A wine to look for.
