Dark robe, limpid at edges. Floral aromas. Significant acidity and tannins, but mostly mute on the fruit side. Not sure if this one was too young, too old, or just an uninteresting wine.

Paired very well with domithakia and was also good on its own. It is drinking well now. It had some minerality. I think this is pretty good bang for your buck.

Deep ruby colour. Aromas of dark fruit, black pepper and wet stone. Medium + body, medium alcohol, medium + acidity and medium tannins. Flavours of more black fruit and black pepper. Decent finish. This is a good wine. Smooth, vibrant fruit and nice pepper. Maybe it would be nicer with a few more years on the clock. Leather/meaty notes of aged Syrah would fit in nicely.

Lots of colour. I found the nose peppery and slightly rubbery--but not unpleasantly. Quite lean. A surprising amount of acidity--painful at times though seemingly sweeter the second night and fine with food. Reasonable value Crozes and worth keeping a couple more years.

Syrahs/Shirazes (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Grown in soil "composed of high alluvial deposit terraces with a lot of shingles;" Typically, "vinified in cement tanks with 2 pumpings/day. The vatting lasts between 3-4 wk after the alcoholic fermentation, followed by aging in vats & bottling the next Autumn."
N: EARTHY, barnyardy
P: Med body; Rndish entry with ALMOST swtish frt nicely off-set by a structure which transitions into a LONG, tangy/swt finish with NICE balance. For now & into, if not through, '21. NICELY done! My VG+/EXC-. 13.5/20 La Revue du Vin de France. [Tasted @ $27.95, though most likely no longer in stock. However, as of early Feb '19 wine-searcher still shows 2 U.S. sources @$35-$37.]

Pepper and olives, good syrah perfume, seemed leaner than the last bottle.
