4. Medium deep ruby. Sharp shortish nose of blackberry and white pepper. Dry, rounded acidity, taut tannins, palate (light and short, slightly green) follows through. Medium body. Good balance. Medium finish. 91. Rank 5/6. RESULT CADE 2015. Rank 4/6.

One of my favorite Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignons. Aromas or violets, graphite, licorice and black cherry. Complex flavors of plum, blackberry and silky tannins that bring black fruit and minerality through a 20-second finish.

Decanted for 5 hours. This is fantastic. Amazing nose with tons of fruit and a little floral. Blackberry and a little cherry on the palate. Very enjoyable tannins. Some time might improve this but this is ready to go now. 93-94 points.

Drank this as a PNP which was a mistake. Drank with 5 other people so it went pretty fast. It did develop and open up over the hour I drank it but it was obvious this needed much more air or more time in the bottle. It was dark purple in color with typical big Howell Mountain fruit to go with big Howell Mountain tannins. I drank a 2016 a few months ago which I thought was better and weirdly drank really well as a PNP. In my opinion the 2015 is not in the same class as the 2013 and 2016 but still very good. If drinking now this most definitely needs a decant.

I love Cabernet Sauvignon made by Danielle Cyrot. The Howell Mountain and Reserve are my favorites and this 2015 HM is simply exactly what I like in a wine. Decanted for 90 minutes, it offered aromas of black fruit and flowers. The wine is layered with blackberry and red cherry fruit, plums, licorice and a wonderful minerality. Great now with upside (for my taste at least) over the next 3 - 7 years!

Sample tasting at 2019 Philly Mag Wine Festival. All wines PnP at room temperature. This is scored along with ~40 other quality wines that I tasted over several hours.

Wow. Fantastic. Wonderful floral aromas, a bouquet actually with red and black pepper and a hint of honeydew melon and papaya. Deep breaths people. Flavors of dark blackberries and a hint of cola and cocoa. Wonderful mountain fruit. There is a lusciousness to this wine full of a silky and velvety mouthfeel with a long finish and a hint of smoke. Lovely.

I served this in my wine course. Ripe nose of blackberry, cherry and wood. Sweet fruit in the midpalate and finish. Worried this might be a bit over-ripe based on the nose, but comes in just under and ends with good balance.

Enjoyed at Porterhouse NYC. Far too young and almost unfair to rate it now. Decanter for 1 hr+ so it was enjoyable with food. But needs a lot more bottle time if you are going to make the most of what is a rather pricey boutique wine.

Decanted for 90 minutes, Cade’s Howell Mountain Wines continue to impress. Aromas of dark fruit and cedar. The wine evolved in the decanter with bold flavors of chocolate and cherries, which was very good now, but might be 95+ in years to come. I’m buying more today!

Decanted initially for one hour then over the course of an entire day. I did not want to open this wine but I accidentally cracked the cap seal and had no choice but to indulge myself. This wine is very young but approachable. Very shy nose until day two. Needs A lot of air. A great accompaniment to seared/grilled ribeye. This wine has all of the components but is just a little too young for me at this time. This will most DEFINITELY improve with age.

Dinner wine at Refuge. Hits all cab notes nicely, dark color, blue and black fruits, roasted coffee, oak, med mouthfeel, med tannins that give way quickly to sweet finish. not worth $75 I paid, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Distributor tasting. Very young and tight. Inky black color. Heavy texture with a full body. Syrupy black fruit with charcoal notes at present needs time. 88+ points.

Open-knitted, blue-black fruit, with cassis, cigar box tannins, slate, and spice. Young, lively, balanced, worth a hold.
