Decanted over cocktails. Silky, viscous Cab with palate-filling but not overpowering blackcurrant, baking spices, very long finish. Beautiful cult Cab.

The wine is very dark in color. Blockbuster of ripe black current and blackberries in the notes, with pencil shave, vanilla. While nose notes jump right out of bottle, it takes quite some time to soften up on the palate. Wine is slightly flat on the palate. Decent finish.

PnP and then drank throughout with a glass left in the decanter for the last pull. This wine has so many things going for it it’s hard to no pound this bad boy if it wasn’t for the constant contemplation the wine demands as it hits your lips. Beautiful structure and mouthfeel with a lovely finish that keeps you waiting for it to end and then makes you reach for another sip. The mouthfeel is wrapped around blackberries, black and red currants, dark bitter cherries, minerals, tobacco, dark earth - this is more high toned than most Napa wines but plays well in the older world style with current Napa in the foreground. Yummy.
Still evolving - very good now but should gain further complexity in the coming years. 94+
Open knit nose still shows a sweet cedar component but underneath there are beautiful notes of blackberry, smoke, graphite, and dried herbs. Polished without feeling stepped on, soft tannins, dark fruit and chocolate on the palate. Drink starting 2025.

Opened the morning, maybe 6 hours before at the winery. ‘15 has really evolved to push out a soon to be stunner. These wines are Napa made for sure but have a Bordeaux lean on them giving them such elegance and dexterity that they jump out of the glass as something different and at the same time need age. Compelling out of the gates with dark red fruits, tobacco, cigar box, lush, goodness. Will be even better in 3-5 more years

Vibrant, yet fleshy, full, but refined, voluminous, the wine has depth and silky tannins. On the nose, you find smoke, earth, cigar box and ripe, dark plums, black cherry and blackberry. The finish is all about is sensuous textures and the bolt of dark chocolate covered, juicy, polished, sexy dark, red fruits. It's interesting to note that even though the wine is already expressing itself, you can easily hold this for 20 years for future development.

Winorama: A winter in Wineland III; 1/4/2019-1/13/2019 (Portland/Willamette, Eureka, Napa): Interesting to learn that this is indeed 100% CS (the Altagracia has turned into the blend wine). It's a bit tight and not perhaps quite as expressive at the moment. Lots of dark dark fruits. It needed prob 30 minutes in the glass for that to convert to blackberries. Brooding. Intense. There's a power here. This is a wine meant for the long haul (which I consider a good thing). Fun to get to try.

A Matter of Taste: New York (The Conrad NY | Del Posto): Lots of black cherries in a glass. Its also a fruity style, but more balanced than the FM we had right before. There's a certain restraint (I suppose some extra acidity). Still a bit quite - nice to compare next to the 2005.

Nose: dark cherry, pencil shavings
Palate: black cherry sauce; finish of pencil shavings, graphite, and something a bit bitter; dry full body; medium superfine tannins
Overall thoughts: Pretty simple, but an other wise very impressive wine with a wonderful mouthfeel. Great wine!

Floats in your palate like a zeppelin: deep dark fruit wrapped in a thick shell of green bell pepper that makes the whole package light and fresh.

opened half bottles of '15 & '16
both are pure perfection, with '16 having a very tiny edge over '15 at this time.

Tasted at Halpern Grand Cru; fantastic wine with notes of tar and sour cherries - we actually preferred the Altagracia
