Damn, something is wrong here - incredibly tight, compressed, wavering between corked and stemmy bitterness... Another of recent disappointing $50-$100 Napa reds...

We aren’t sure if this wine was defective but we opened two bottles and couldn’t drink either of them. Sort of an expensive throw away. There was no fruit, just a lot of tannins and some harsh underlying notes of rotten grapes. A huge disappointment!
Really nice wine. Very well made. Trilogy by Flora is always so well made, and this 15 is a powerhouse. Chalky black fruit with a hint of black cherry, vanilla, oatmeal cookie, clove, pie spice on the nose and palate. A hint of iodine to the finish. Good black pepper finish. Medium acidity and actually thought this was going to have an insane amount of tannin and oak astringency, basically rendering the finish very short, but this was anything but. Very impressed by the approachability of this wine for such a year that produced so many good, complex wines that need to lay down almost 10 years. This was served pop and pour and it did juuust fine.

Very nice, wound up tight. Starts out a bit hotter than the stated 14.2%...ends up with a full fruit profile, modest tannins. Could use more structure.

Lots of presence, tiny bit of smoke, tannic still, comparing with 2017 this seems to have a longer finish and more grip. I would drink the 2016 and 17 first.

Beautiful dark color, black cherry and oak upfront. well balanced with tannin and acidity, vanilla , raspberry aftertaste. A bit overpriced but another Flora Springs winner.

The wine looks garnet colored. It tastes like blackberry, forest floor, plum, prune and coffee. The body is full. The wine has smooth texture, well balanced with oak not overwhelming. Tannins are present on the back, just a touch of dustiness.. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity, well balanced and very enjoyable.

Pop and pour. Better than I recall from prior years of this (last bottle was likely a 2008, 09 or 10). Full bodied with tons of sexy ripe fruit accompanied by enough structure to keep it from going the Caymus route. Black pepper, milk chocolate, and a slight green note accompany. Drink in the next 3-5 years.

Third blind red wine for our Labor Day get together.
Dark and deep ruby red with a purplish hue. Lots of sweet spices on the nose with cinnamon, nutmeg, purple flowers, some dark cocoa and tight dark berries. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium body. Dark palate with flavors of dark spices, cherries, gravel, anise, mulberries, cocoa and lilacs. Medium plus finish and dry. Drink till 2025.

This ‘15 at pop and pour was actually a bit of a turn off...muted and didn’t express itself at all. After 30mins in the glass, it changed dramatically. Soft fruits of blueberries and plums with toasted oak, licorice, and sandalwood. This reminds me of a more restrained version of the ‘12. Needs more time than most Trilogy’s I’ve had. In order of drinking, I’d go ‘11, ‘14, ‘12, ‘13, ‘15.

Deep and dark purplish ruby red. Layered nose with notes of vanilla bean, anise, cinnamon, cassis, blackberries and more baking spices. A little dark cocoa with some air. Medium plus tannins (6.5/10) and full body potential. A little spicy on the palate with lots of red and black fruits. Notes of cinnamon and sweet spices too. Long and lingering finish. Still just a baby that will improve with a few months, even years in the bottle. Drink till 2030. (91+)

Fantastic. Still young and needs to be decanted now. But it is showing well now with the promise that the best is yet to come.

Showed MUCH better this time - definite bottle variation. Nice sleek dark fruit, leather, minerals... Maddening super thick heavy bottle though.

Right by Staglin and there are a bunch of natural springs at the winery. Napa fruit for sure, and then some earth and greeness to it.
