Dark and ripe. The flavors and notes changed and came back around with air time. I won't bore you with all of them but some highlights were cinnamon, blackberry, anise, red fruit and chocolate. Might have called it a Zinfandel if blind but non-blind the grenache is identifiable. Not tired at all but I can't say it's built for a lot longer cellaring.

Classic Paso style, with blueberry, rich mouthfeel, minerals and violets. There is sufficient acidity to balance the large scaled fruit, and tannins are soft.

Not a WOW wine, but very solid. Consumed in honor of Terry's coach's son Rex! Bit of cinnamon on the nose, spicy red fruits, medium length. A great restaurant wine.

Tasted single blind. A fresh fruit nose but also something more brooding. Licorice and sweet spice notes more than fruit on the palate. The finish was a little sharp.

pleasantly surprised. I have had a TH for a while. great nose of deep dark blackberry, tar, cherry coppler which has baked over and caramelized on the sheet. wonderful round mouth with good balance, a ton of fruit , good complexity, there was a touch of heat, but was held in check with all else that was going on. long finish.

A bright wine full of strawberry, cherry, a strong graham cracker note, dried herb, game and ink. Medium-bodied with a pleasing chalky aspect. The finish is slightly clenched but much more open than a bottle six months ago. Fresh, vibrant, and not at all heavy or over-done. Drink over the next 1-2 years.

taste: nice silky tannins with a plush feel providing spice tones, various wild herbs, and a good healthy chunk of red and black fruits to provide the base
overall: yet another outstanding Terry Hoage wine. I had wanted to try his stuff, and now I want to get my hands on his wines, they're just awesome. So smooth and velvety and just flat out delicious all around. Very well balanced and put together with a smooth red fruited attack and tart spicy finish

Popped and poured. Initially very closed, revealing very little for the first hour. A very floral nose of honeysuckle, gardenia, charcoal, crushed fresh blackberry, and a little game and chalk. Bright, tightly focused palate with flavors of blackberry, tar and spices. The finish had good length, a pleasing chalky minerality but a touch of bourbon. This wine needs another couple of years or a couple hours in the decanter. At this stage the 2005 Hoage Pick is the more enjoyable Rhone blend.

Initially, this bottle really worried me. I decanted for 5hrs, and stole a sip or two before re-bottling- hot, oaky, tight- ehh... After rebottling and taking to friends, it blossomed.... A huge nose of cherries, spices. A juicy palate with mouthwatering acidity- some oak (but feeling much more in balance), and a medium finish. This was a nice med. bodied wine, and reminded me of some of the Villa Creek wines I've had.

Dark purple in color. Nose of menthol, blackberry and cassis. Blackberry, blueberry and black cherry fruit on the palate. Rich and concentrated. Good acidity. Very noticeable oak on the palate and finish that I don't remember being there in the past. Long monolithic finish.
