Jason's birthday: Guessed 2000 Chambolle. Some development but rather light that led me to the vintage. Lacked the power and stuffing of a great Chambertin but pleasant enough. Think others liked this more than me, felt it lacked a little magic for its pedigree.

Mature and clean Burgundy nose. Still some unevenness on the palate otherwise a very good aged Burgundy. Drinking well now and should hold at this level for quite sometime.

Cherry, mature raspberry, sous bois; full, rich, rather substantial, layered, velvety; very long and lingering finish; excellent After 2-3 Hours: On the nose the fruit is slightly more tart, but the wine is also more floral and perfumed, quite lovely; the sous bois is still present but mellowed; on the palate it continues to have a pleasing velvety texture, and continues to be very long, though now more refined and layered in an almost infinitely receding manner; truly excellent, almost surprisingly so

Crimson in the glass with a brownish hue on the edges. Pleasant nose of tart cherry, roses, flowers and earth. Not overly complex on the palate. Loads of black licorice backed up by primary cherry flavors, molasses and brown sugar. Full mouthfeel, somewhat viscous with a medium finish. This was out of favor with me as I do not like the flavor of black licorice.

Smooth and surprisingly fruit forward. Disappointingly, while still quite pleasurable, the wine only shows moderate complexity. Wanted more out of a grand cru, even in an off year.

J's Birthday Dinner (Taste Paradise Ion): Pnp. Heady aroma of sweet cherry, strawberry, rose. High acid, with touch of stem and grainy tannins. Drinking nicely now.
