Recalling from memory last week. Fairly oaky, buttery wine, with spicy flavors, that unlike many of the CA breed, really works. Sweet fruit stands up to the oak, so this is not just another typical overoaked CA chardonnay.

Buttery with a definite chalkiness in the nose...the name definitely fits. Nose is consistent with the palate but perhaps with an added touch of garlic??? Wonderful creaminess. Very nice!

Light yellow color, moderate nose of fruit. There is good acidity, and nice fruit showing of apple and pear. Lots of butter on the tongue and the finish with a large dose of mineral chalk.

Once Upon a Vine XIII - New Orleans, LA by Martin Wine Cellar (Pavillion of Two Sisters): Nice Chard, but will certainly appeal to the big oak crowd. On the nose, there is nothing but straight movie theater, overzealous clerk, super buttered here's-you're-triple-bypass-that'll-be-ten-dollars-thank-you popcorn. The palate comes through with some tropical fruits like papaya and passionfruit, but the butter and popcorn are still present and heckling the fruits attempts to take the center stage. Although I'm panning the excessive oak, I must say that this wine is still pretty darn good. The only thing that is out of balance is the oak, but whether that is a fault is certianly debatable. The back end of the palate has nice acidty and brings forth some apple, pear, and stone flavors that linger on into the finish. What can I say, its a pretty good wine if you don't mind the oak. I figure even big oaky Chards have a time and place. This would go great with some bold seafood dishes, or even with veal.

Beautiful Chard. Very nice apple and pear that was a nice compliment to or Banana leaf wrapped snapper and rice.
