Medium ruby red colour. Medium nose with cherry, raspberry and rose hip. Medium taste of cherry, raspberry, dried herbs and vanilla. Medium long and dry finish. Medium acidity. Medium body. A good Pinot Noir, but I miss some complexity. Goes well with duck, pork, poultry or veal.

Avoids the heavy oak and over extraction of many California Pinot Noirs, but misses out on the finesse that this varietal is capable of. Nice artwork on the cork.

Volcanic bedrock. Base on Pentaluma gap with wind tunnel. Red fruit and spice on nose. Richer palate than sonoma, and better experience on palate meaning acid is better intergrated, more of a flow through the mid palate, and lingering finish. Not the floral fruit pip the sonoma pinot had. Both are good.

8 months in French Oak, 1/3 new. Walter discovered Carneros in the 1960s. 10 -15 feet of clay and then the bedrock. Spicy, smokey raspberry is what they say and all of it is coming for the soil. And that about hits it. And solid acidity on the back end as well.

Great “daily drinker” Pinot. Neutral enough to appeal to non wine friends.
