Interesting wine and nothing like what was expected. Medium bodied with sweet but also tart redfruit. Mineral, licorice, clove, vanilla, dried herbs…. The density and extraction builds with time but still retains more freshness than most CDP. Drank from a magnum.

Now here is a wine popped, the 2nd of 2 purchased 3+ years ago. I consumed the 1st bottle and had very positive thoughts on it. I knew some time would be kind to the other bottle, this poor lost puppy that needed a home. And quite a home I gave him. Poached eggs and toast, sometimes on an English muffin w hollandaise sauce in the mornings. Cured Iberico ham on toast made from the local French bakery for lunch with various cheeses, olives, truffle oils, and sideaments. And for dinner, whatever we felt like eating, prepared from our very own personal chef from Lyon. Needless to say, it's been a good 3 years for me and Mr. Mordoree. We had a time, and a time I'll always remember. But even if I would ever forget, I'll always have these notes. These precious notes, as an historical reminder of better days long gone. You were a thrill a swill... Good bye my friend.... until we meet again... 97+ get better my friend. with time you can always get better!
Tasted this in 2019 while touring the Southern Rhone and was finally able to get a shipment of some '16s and '18s. A delicious CdP and great QPR. Blue and black fruits, medium plus body with a bit of spice. Had a glass while grilling steaks so no formal notes but can't wait to open more of these.

Really this tonight, took about 3 hours to open and show the luxurious dark fruit, spruces and earthy minerals, clean and relatively fresh feeling palate, medium acidity and medium plus length

Pretty much undrinkable at this stage. Massive size, high alcohol, off balance, with even some green character. I hope it evens out for the sake of my other bottles.

Fine Vines Fall 2018 Portfolio Tasting (City Winery - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. A very exciting wine, even if not openly / easily accessible right now. Dense cross-section of black fruits with impressive length. Some faint barnyard notes I expect from Châteauneuf, but without anything imbalanced. This needs time, but clearly has top shelf potential.

Stellar wine. Lots of fruit and still quite primary. Lots of upside.
