Decent wine a bit one dimensional anda bit to full for a summer drink, there used to be quite a lot of Semillon for sale in Australia but it has somewhat diminished or people simply are not buying, it was certainly variable in quality when I was in Australia but that was some time back and you don't see that much of it from France either.

From memory, this showed lovely hints of citrus and pineapple supported by a mellowing trace of oak. Seemed nicely integrated already and, frankly, very moreish! Not a massively sophisticated wine but tremendous value and incredibly reliable.

A private lunch (Restaurant SushiSamba, Amsterdam, NL): Cold maceration for 12 hours, fermented and aged for 8 months in new French oak hogsheads, 12.7% ABV. Basically a crisp and youthful Sémillon, but with added warmth, spice and richness from the wood. Next to the lime and lime core, there are aromas of grass and tropical fruits, but it does not turn into a Sauvignon Blanc look-a-like, and the oak is noticeable but not resinous at all. Very competent wine making.

This vintage displays a bitterness that I am not used to with this wine.

Sampling the December 8, 2017 new releases (små partier) from Systembolaget (Systembolaget, Stockholm): Smells like Sioux City Sarsaparilla. Has a good mouthfeel, with a soft attack and still very balanced. Pretty good actually. (84-85)
