This is a good apple. Yellow fruits, and there is a little richness here from the Chenin but the acidity keeps everything in balance, even bright. Still, this is on the riper spectrum of Chenin, and is really about the fruit more than anything else. Then the texture. It's quite a value at $13-$15.

Fresh, cool mixed orchard fruits with flowers, honey, and subtle stony and saline mineral elements. The fruit is pretty, peachy, and delicious. Nice silkiness to the texture, lifted by decent acidity. It does come across as New World, but when Loire comparisons are put aside it is perfectly enjoyable for what it is, especially for the modest price.

Apple, kiwi, and faint banana on nose. Lemon pith, yellow apple, and slight mango over mild minerality, medium body, and balanced acid. Long finish with banana and lemon curd becoming prominent after 15 seconds. A good value for South African chenin blanc. I prefer Loire style.

Nice tropical fruits and lemon curd. Round mouth feel and good depth but at the same time lively and refreshing. Excellent QPR. Good pairing with chicken stir fry.

Another great wine from South Africa. Plenty of fruit with some mineral. Maybe just a little too sweet for my taste but otherwise you won't find a better QPR.

South African Tasting (Embassy of South Africa - Washington, DC): Love the floral aromas, fresh and bright. Creamy texture on the palate with bright acidity, peaches and nectarines topped on sea salt and honeysuckle. The texture and depth at this price is really impressive.
Second wine at our tasting at Raats Family Wines with Marika. Pale yellow in appearance. Interesting nose with a touch of straw to start before bringin out the citrus and stone fruits. Medium acidity (6.5/10) and light plus bodied. Crisp palate with notes of green apples, lychees, citrus zest and a nice amount of tanginess. Medium plus length finish. Drink till 2021.
Made up of 100% Chenin Blanc from vines that average 35 years old in soil similar to Table Mountain. Aged on the lees for six months in stainless steel. No oak.

Medium plus nose shows white flowers, persimmon, honeycomb, light must, palate gives nice layers of fruit, citrus and stone driven, white peach, kiwi, pineapple, apricot, nice mineral tone underneath, limestone. Finishes tart with underripe, dry notes, medium plus alcohol but well integrated. Warm weather style Chenin and nice QPR.

Nez exubérant et original, bonbon anglais...
Bouche fruité à l'excès, un peu artificiel, frais, tout de même bien équilibré.
