K vintners makes big delicious wines and this was no exception. I’m starting to enjoy more old world wines but when I’m looking for big wines, no better place to go.
Enjoyed over 2 days and it held up well. No hurry here.

Subtle and sophisticated with flavors of black cherry and currant. First night was a disaster - sour and muddled with no tannic feel. Took three days to hit its stride, so maybe it is still a little young to open now. By the third night it was smooth with silky tannins and wonderful flavors that filled my mouth. Glad I had the patience to drink it over a few nights so I could see its potential.

This wine is hitting its stride. Plush layered black fruit, white pepper, touch of leather, with a great finish. Somewhat angular and astringent on Day 1 PNP, but resolved beautifully on Day 2 with palate-caressing depth and softness. Very nice.

We were frankly a little disappointed, though our experience was consistent with reviews. Pretty lush nose, dark color and fruit-forward in the mouth, with low acid and modest tannins. Nice flavor profile with some interesting components, very fruit driven, but not a traditional tempranillo. It does reflect the K Vintners style, so shouldn't be surprised. For us, just a bit too much sweet, forward fruit. There was a suggestion about some aging...I would be hesitant to keep too long.

Ran through the Menu decanter and back into the bottle. Disappointing. Rather flat in the midpalate after a nice fruity attack. Was hoping it was just closed, so left it sealed in a 375ml bottle for a couple days. Revisiting on day 3 it was grape juice. Super boring, flat, not very tasty. Down the drain it went. Very sad, since I have enjoyed previous vintages quite a bit.

A friend and I tasted this at the Seattle tasting room on 8/11/18. It had a rich, balanced bouquet of black cherry, earth, mocha, cocoa, leather and spice aromas. The palate was rich and round with flavors of black cherry, mocha, cocoa, leather, spice and minerals.

Notes after 1 hour decant while watching the "Theory of Everything" about Steven Hawkings life. Deep opaque rusty garnet. Nose of maple, dust, hay and blackberries. Taste is similar and ultra smooth. Low acidity and well integrated medium tannins. Medium plus bodied. I enjoyed this more than I expected. About 90-91. More enjoyable than the 14 vintage.

Nose: Red and black fruits—plum, blackberry. Caramel.
Initially lots of tobacco in flavor that mellows and balances well with food (spaghetti)

red fruit predominates, lacking in mid-palate, decent finish, light tannins

Rich and seamless, with loads of dark cherry and savory notes. A bit low on structure and a bit one-dimensional, but that dimension sure is delicious.

Dark cherry, other dark red fruit and some chocolate. Round mouthfeel. Fruit forward. Not complex, but very enjoyable.

Candied red fruit, with a bit of pepper and some subtle fresh herbs. Very nice and interesting wine.
