Retail $22. 100% Gamay. Master the World tasting Kit 241C. Another stellar wine curated by the fine folks at Master the World. This one comes from the smallest of the Beaujolais Crus, Chénas, named for the oak trees (chènes) that once dominated the hills. Bright fresh fruit, characteristic of most Beaujolais, dominates the nose of this garnet wine, mostly sour cherry and strawberry. There is also plenty of bay and tea leaf represented as well as a touch of anise. The palate is round and smooth with a present, but not over-powering, acidity. The tannins have mostly integrated in this nearly six-year-old wine and thus is likely at or near its peak. Wonderful.

13% abv. First bottle that I picked up from WineX was corked - they accepted the exchange for another bottle without question. This bottle was sound. Really lovely, pure, and delicate Gamay flavors in a light and bright package. Lacked depth, though it picked up a little weight as it aired. Good acidic spine that went very nicely with a tapenade Atlantic Salmon dish. Not bad at all, but was hoping for a bit more, as I've enjoyed bottles from this producer in the past. I think this was probably better a couple of years ago when the fruit was (probably) more youthful. Now, it just seems a bit faded. If scoring, 87 -88.

Clean & lean in style but with good fruit purity; cranberry, strawberry and red cherry. Sweet middle then becomes mineral with a black tea dryness and a little heat. Light bodied, I preferred it slightly chilled.
Quality summer Bojo.

Appearance - clear, medium ruby. Looks like a Pinot noir.
Nose - it’s been open a few hours. Much more eye burn at this point. Alcohol feels higher. Black cherry, oak. Medium intensity but alcohol feels medium plus.
Palate -quite delicious. Youthful, on the upslope. Black cherry, oak, feels young. It is very drinkable. Popped and poured I liked it. With air it is getting a bit unbalanced in that it needs more time. Too bad the bottle is empty.
I paid the typical NYC premium these days so not sure I see value here at $28 or a standout as a Gamay. I would have a hard time differentiating this from pinot noir. I’m not getting that lighter raspberry and strawberry taste that to me is more indicative of gamay. This is black cherry to me.
Enjoyable but not sure worth the price.

A good example of cru Beaujolais - a well made light-medium bodied wine that should continue to drink well over the next several years.
Day 1: homemade pizza w/ caramelized onion cheddar cheese, onion, sun-dried tomatoes, and basil.
Deep red/purple, transparent, with hints of brick red at the edges. Fruity nose with hints pomegranate and strawberries. Fruity on the attack with a mustiness (sawdust, stem). Picked up a hint of green olive on the finish. Tannis evolved as it warmed in the glass.
Day 2: With Cubano sandwich, chicken pesto sandwich, raspberries, and celery.
Similar to day 1, smoother with possible hints of carbonic (similar but less pronounced than 2017 Piron Beaujolais-Villages). Tart finish. More pronounced floral notes, roses (Rio Samba?), especially as it warms up.
Day 3: Buffalo steaks, corn on Cobb, and sweet potato
Still drinking well, consistent with days 1 and 2. Holds up well with the steaks.

Simply delicious. Nose bright and herbal. Flavors of red fruits, cranberries, for sure, and cherries. Savory finish. Not a wine for pondering. Just a pleasure to drink, balanced and yummy. Outstanding juice and an amazing value.

Bright red in the glass. Mild red fruit and herbs (lavender?) on the nose. Fresh, tart cranberry on the palate, with a not quite placeable mustiness following. Lingers longer than I would expect.

Impressive Beaujolais but hefty on the alcohol for a wine of medium body.

Beau nez sur la cerise noire. En bouche c'est coulant avec une cerise mûre presque marasquinée. Encore pour le prix !

Tastes like the best wine I ever had, but that may be because it’s the first one I drank since I gave up for lent.
