Friend brought this to dinner as he knows my cellar is (for whatever reason) Burgundy deficient. One-hour splash decant with some sediment in the bottle. During decant, a mild floral aroma sprang forth. Wine was clear; translucent ruby with no apparent bricking. After resting, nose was not that Burgundian but was still quite nice: lots of raspberry and cranberry, earth and toast. The mouth was similar to the nose, and Grenache-like in how deep the flavors were. As the night went on, the raspberry yielded to the cranberry supported by dark earth and vanilla on a moderate finish. Not the most Burgundian wine, but very very enjoyable!

Short note from a tasting. Quite the same as the Volnay Villages 2015 of the same producer: quite opulent, with good fruit, with a quality I cannot better define as rather muffled at the moment. Also some licorice. Good acidity. When I remember it well: a lot of mushroom, especially in the aftertaste. In this wine there was more structure, which made it more restrained. At this moment the Volnay was more attractive, but I can imagine that with five or more years of keeping this one will be the winner. 90-92++.
