In a good place. A little tight at first, but over 1-2 hours I’m the glass opens up beautifully. Well balanced, characteristic Vosne spice. My first experience with this Mugneret and will seek out more in the future

Tart ripe red cherry fruit backed by solid med+ acid and med+ tooth-gripping tannins. Noticeable Brett there, my first Burg to have that. 13% alc. Made to age, and the underlying wine is good, but if Brett turns you off, take a pass.

Bretty, in spite of impeccable provenance. Stemmy with crunchy red fruit. Very stylized / manipulated into the crunchy red fruit style; fights the terroir. Such a step down from the old style. This used to be one of my favorite producers, but this smells and tastes like generic $30 natural wine.

Really very good Vosne-Romanee level Burgundy. There is no wonder why Jancis highly rates Domaine Mugneret. This performed so strongly in a blind pinot noir global tasting session. A lot better than some of the equivalent Gevrey-Chmabertins on the night. Very pretty, elegant, good weight (30% new oak), whole bunch ferment, good concentration, great wine.

Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Walk around tasting. More barnyard/ brett than I would prefer. Not nearly as interesting as another bottle from the same source tasted a few months back. Off bottle?
