18 months since the last bottle has brought positive changes. Gone is the weirdness, replaced with balanced consistency: black and blueberry, a touch of orange zest, well integrated minerality, acid & tannins. The finish is much improved, too, going on and on. This is sophisticated and feminine; NOT a fruit bomb. 2 more bottles for 2024 and 2025.
Day 2 note: Severe drop off overnight, turning pruney.
2/27/2022 Note: A berry cobbler nose isn’t quite replicated in the mouth, where clean, maybe austere, blackberry flavors and a mineral element that is more pronounced on some slurps than others, take the stage. Weird. At times I really like it and others, not so much. The finish is medium and accentuates the austere aspect. This may improve with age, but it fails to march along with the excellence of the vintage.

Picota granate.

2016 Ferraton Père et Fils Crozes Hermitage Les Calendars was deep purple in colour with a ruby rim, with reticent nose of violets, wet earth and a touch of game and dark cherry. On the palate, it was dry, elegantly medium-bodied and medium-acidic, with medium level of fine tannin, juicy, spicy and savoury finish of medium-long length. The 2016 Crozes was so floral, delicate and elegant, in stark contrast to the beefy and full-bodied 2015 Crozes.

Very typical, and very delicious. Funky on the nose, with red fruit and black fruit, black pepper and herbal. The palate is long and rich. Young tannins, but very well balanced with a bit lower acidity and medium + body. Long finish, that lingers with the red berry flavours

Warm spice and a bit of bacon fat on the nose. Just opened. Quietly owned by Chapoutier. And a lively mid palate. And long finish.

I’m with DEARTH’s review on this, dry and savory with very little fruit profile, comes off very flat and wouldn’t buy again.

Ruby red. Funky nose. Tastes too much of farm and grass. Some love that, I do not. Simply not my type of wine. Would not buy again.

Découvertes en Vallée du Rhône; 4/15/2019-4/16/2019 (Ampuis, Mauves and Tain-l'Hermitage): Walk around tasting talking with the producers, brief note. Vibrant black cherry and plum. Ripe fruit that is nicely supported by elegant structure with good+ weight. Very charming already right now.
