Dark ripe and powerful - this was more wine than I expected when I opened the bottle. Pure on the nose with a little bit of smoke and roasted meat. Palate is medium bodied, ripe yet with firm and juicy tannins and good acidity. Lots of currant and red cherry and blackberry fruit - really very nice. Finish is good as well, with good depth and length of flavour. Very good with some greek themed food.

This wine had a good mouthfeel and solid body. Simple notes of dark (but not especially juicy or ripe) fruits and dried herbs -- decently bitter, especially on the finish. Good balance. I didn't examine this closely, but was thinking it was probably around 86 points for me.

NobleRottersSydney - blind 17 Chard & 14 Shiraz (Fix, St James, Sydney): {cork?, 13.5%} Science-fiction purple in colour. Smells of gluey oak and alcohol. Reminiscent of a Robert Parker zombie-wine. Raisin & prune flavours, seemingly little oak on the palate. No tannin to note, nor acidity evident. Hot, short finish. Presumably not typical; hard to know exactly why this is showing so badly. Didn’t seem especially oxidised, so maybe there’s something else at play? Baked in a shipping container or something? I thought it might have been a Languedoc Frankenstein wine. PnP. Initially a bit shy on the nose but patience reveled black fruits and french oak. on the palate fairly lush berries with a bit of minerals and tobacco in a somewhat modern style. Only a hint of meatiness and earth - expected more, but not a negative. Cedar and tobacco on the finish with nice deep fruit and somewhat soft tannins. Very nice now, but has structure to age another 5+ years. 91+

Dark/opaque robe. Not much fruit at this point. If I strain, there is some bramble and violet--but mostly I get oak/vanilla, and an odd oyster/blood note? Not enough of a mid but a medium to long finish. I think this might be in a dumb phase and I wouldn't open any for five years.

See my recent note, full throttle, but not square of hefty, not the syrah with its high acidity, but riper, more fleshy, lots of fruit, the complexity is maybe a bit modest; the fun factor, however, is high.

Syrah driven northern Rhône. Fruit notes are somewhat muted on the nose but when tasted there is plenty of dark fruit. Different from California Syrahs in that it was a little sweeter and less spicy/peppery than an archetypal new world Syrah. There is a softness to this wine after opening but it disappears on day 2.

Grown in body and complexity since the previous tasting; the wine still has a deep and fruity bouquet (raspberries/cherries) and is very concentrated without losing its elegance. The ripe citrus backbone supports it perfectly.

A little sweet red fruit, grilled meat, cherry, clove, baking spice, and vanilla. Sweet ripe fruit on the front of the palate, but drinks a little drier on the mid-palate and on the finish. Fairly extracted -- medium finish and full bodied. Would be a good gateway drug to get a new world drinker into something French.

A very nice wine, but there is a 'but'; the grapes are so perfectly ripe that the high tones of the Syrah (raspberries) in this wine are in fact too modest. The main impression is cherries; it gives a more southern taste. It is however a lovely, fruity, smooth and juicy wine (with fully integrated wood). I have 5 bottles to see what future brings.

Clear, deep ruby. Ripe, juicy and powerful on the nose. Rich blackberry and blueberry jam, mint, smoked meat and cherry currant.
Firm, chalky tannins. Hot. Powerful palate.
Ripe and jammy flavours of meat and espresso.
Over the top and not my style. May settle down over time?

With Northern Rhône '15 in your glass it gives fun; raspbarry, bramble, convincing fruit, very good ripe citrus backbone, elegant edges, good tannins!

Seemingly ripe on the nose but perfectly dry on the palate. Great on its own. 13.5% ABV.

Dark color, spices on the nose, big and intense, tannic. Well made wine, try again in 5 years.

Even better than the previous bottle, fat cherries, smooth spices, concentrated midtaste and classy tannins.
