  • Defective and completely ruined, which was disappointing as the other bottle I bought of this at the same time was perfect

  • Drank to celebrate my 30th Birthday as a 1992 baby (which was both a commiseration and a celebration). Disgorged 2004. In perfect condition - no signs of taint at all given its age (but it was direct from the Moët cellars via Clos19).
Very intresting notes of truffle, coffee (cappuccino), caramel and maybe raisins. Complex and aged, and a long finish.
Possibly just not quite as interesting (or outstanding) as I was hoping for, but still delicious.
Drank alongside the 2002, which was outstanding, richer, racier and everyone's favourite.
One bottle left which id be tempted to save until im 40.

  • not blind
Small vertikal tasting of Moet Collection 04,02,96,92 and 90 Magnum

    04, deg. 2020
A lot citric aromas, some roasted notes, salty, reductive and a bit tight, tangerine, a bit smokieness and and the end creamy. 93

    02, deg 2017
elegant, fresh, some aging signs, balanced and creamy. 51% CH, 26% PN and 23% PM

    96, deg. 2017
for me the strongest with 90 Mg, elegant, fresh, round, nutty and toast, similar to DP. at the end still lemon, cracking acidity as expected fora 1996. 94-95

    92, deg 2004
not in perfect condition, some mushrooms. 91

    90, Magnum, deg. 2004
At his peak. Juicy, some roasted aromas, very balanced, at least 10 more years. 95

  • I don't think I can improve on ISAACJAMESBAKER's review, so I quote it full below. I will add that the 1992 seemed to be the favorite at its price point of the Moet GVs we tried, and that it should cellar well for years to come:

"Showing those beautiful aged aromas of hazelnut, boiled peanuts, apricots and yellow flowers. Crisp acid, fine bubbles, this mineral-driven Champagne also shows lots of lemon peel, honeydew melon, sweet tart candies and honeycomb flavors. Very elegant and sleek, with a long, nutty finish. Drinking incredibly well now, but these bubbles aren't done evolving yet."

  • Haven't had a champagne this old before so no real benchmark. Had the depth of age to it but very tough to describe.

  • Hotel Terravina (Southampton, UK): -- popped and poured --
    -- tasted non-blind over 30 – 40 minutes --

Excellent. Expressive and complex Nose. Lively, intense, expressive and complex on the palate. This has a youthful exuberance about it, with its lively bead, fine mousse, and young classic Champagne flavors. Very nice acidity, cut, and precision. I thought this was significantly better than the ’90 vintage of the same, which we drank immediately after this bottle. Drink now or continue to Hold. Bottle kindly provided by TobyAnscombe.
