Actually 2013. Dark cherries, cedar, spice. A lovely wine as a wonderfully subtle accompaniment to, yes!, Cold Cucumber Cream Soup with fresh Dill. And a bit understated accompaniment to grilled steak and roasted corn. But wait! Dark Chocolate Sea Salted Caramels!! Knock your socks off!

Way better than the previous bottle which was definitely corked. This wine was delicious although it really did not go well with the tomatillo sauce in the homemade enchiladas. Nose and entry of black cherry cola kind of clashed. Alone, the wine is absolutely delicious and highly worthy of 94. I really am not sure that this will appreciate with more time in bottle bit this is definitely going, so it likely will.

Deep dark center, red rim with modest signs of age. Sweet and creamy, cooked plums, tobacco, piñon, dust and blackcurrants. Smooth, plums and blackcurrants, rosemary, touch of banana and blue cheese, good acidity and solid tannins, nice finish of fruit and greenness. Drinking well now but will be better in 3+ years.

Corked. Initially, it really just seemed like it was a little bit off and had a funky finish, so we decided to hold and wait. After about 3 hours, there was no doubt that it was definitely corked!

This is a very youthful wine. Still, with about an hour of decanting, this one was drinking very lovely. The nose and palate is sweet black cherry with red clay influence. This Rutherford site has such dynamic soil and Bill has been making terroir driven wines for 20+ years from this same parcel of land. The finish has good acidity and a sweeter cedary type of tannin but the wine is already incredibly balanced given its youth. 94 now with definite improvement expected in the 10 or 15 years that it will develop.

Youthful power. Sweet Blackberry nose. Ripe Blackberry and espresso front. Middle of black licorice and leather. Finish is dusty, black and almost blue fruits but has a hint of red clay and limestone. This one is showing VERY well in its youth. The STRUCTURE here is incredible. I will be buying a mag or 3L of this to put away for the next 10 to 20 years.

Still quite young. Great fruit, enough tannin to warrant further aging (for me). Does okay now with some air and food. Another 5+ years.
