Medium gold in color, leesy, nutty, with lemon zest, herbs, and smoky oak notes. Tropical fruit and lemon more prominent on the palate, with a fairly long mineral driven finish. Quite nice.

Surprisingly good showing for an aged Kistler, as these wines have proven quite variable in their ability to hold up over time, even in a cold cellar. Really beautifully balanced with citrus, mineral, toasted brioche, tropical fruit, and caramelized nuts. More Burgundian in style but with a California flare.

IWFSC 743rd Dinner (Les Nomades): Full deep yellow color. Full dusty yellow fruit and caramel nose. Almost tight yellow mineral fruit. Holding up incredibly well.

Very dark honey color with an off nose. Wife did not like it as it started to fade in the glass. I was able to drink two glasses and it was OK. Gave the bottle back to the restaurant.

Beautiful aged Kistler chardonnay. Prominent butter and cream, with light citrus and minerality, rich roasted nut flavors, hints of aged honey and smoke. Improved throughout dinner.

Can't recall if this was Joe's or Doug's bottle. Deep yellowish gold color. Notes of buttered brown apples, almonds and marzipan. Rich on the palate, with some caramel and apple fruit, framed by a bit of oak. I preferred this over the '97 Durell.

Rich amber color. Typical Kistler nose with hints of white pepper and camphor. On the palate, smooth and viscous with overtones of hazelnut. No bright fruit flavors, which suggests this may be a bit past its peak though far from broken down.

Consistent showing. Surprising how well this has held up. Even better than the other kistler consumed the same night.

More oak showing in this bottle, with reduced minerality. Rich, nutty, creamy, roasted apples and pears.

A good amount of style but heavyhanded on the oak

Big, custard, creme brulee nose. Nutty and oaky, with ripe fruit and good acidity. Perhaps a bit heavy handed with the oak?
