  • Sublime. Aged beautifully, tons of black cassis, plum, herbs and earthiness. Solid tannic structure, rich and full bodied. Went perfectly with grilled rosemary and garlic lamb chops.

  • Pnp. Consumed over 4 hours. Red and blue fruits. Some meaty and savory notes. Med finish. Enjoyable wine. 14 was such an amazing year for sheridan vineyard and I was smitten by their wines! 2015 is a different animal, still good just not on the same level. I would say 16 is similar to 15 and I have not sampled any 17s as of yet.

  • Couldn't resist opening one of these, and I'm glad I did - big, fruit-forward nose leaped from the glass after popping the cork, especially bright cherry, which is melded with licorice, spice, and herbs. It closed down promptly in the glass which led us to decanting. It slowly re-emerged at the 2-3 hour mark, and only improved for another couple hours until we finished the bottle. It's a big, fruit-loaded wine, and showed increasing complexity throughout the night (adding roasted game, herbs, and spice notes). Low acidity, and the healthy dose of tannin was never obtrusive; the alcohol was present, indicative of the vintage, but surprisingly little oak/vanilla at this point (which he had feared). We'll hold remaining bottles for a number of years, though I suspect these will be more approachable than the '14s and '13s, which have a notably more structured spine and have not been as forward.
