NobleRottersSydney - <>A$40 blind (Fix, St James, Sydney): {375ml, screwcap, 10.5%} [DavidM] Standard sort of Noble One – apricot, vanilla, rich and coppery. Full weight and sweetness. A little more evolved than the 750ml we had back in July, which makes sense. Halves should be drunk now.

NobleRottersSydney - Henschke (Fix, St James, Sydney): {screwcap, 10.5%} [Glenn] Lusciously mature copper and caramel. Botrytis city. They spray it on the grapes to make this, don’t they? Honeyed richness on the palate, still with medium acidity and weight. Fully sweet, no doubt about that. Medium length finish. Noble One peaks between 5-10 years from vintage (these days!) I reckon; from a 750 this was perfectly at peak. Excellent.

Thick and syrupy with *just* enough acid to balance.
Excellent nose of honey, ginger in syrup and candied peel. Classic noble characteristics minus the slightly savoury note that you might expect from Sauternes. Slightly one dimensional, but very delicious and a pretty long finish. It will keep for ages but probably won't get much better with age.

Highly aromatic and fragrant nose of apricot, pastry, honey, and caramel notes. It's full-bodied and sweet with fresh lemon citrus notes joining the very nicely balanced aroma replays on the flavour profile. Fresh acidity keeps it from being cloying. Spiced mid-palate adds further complexity and interest, and continues through to the finish, with excellent length.

Return to Aus; 6/23/2019-7/5/2019 (Adelaide, South Australia wine regions, Tassie, Yarra, etc.): This is always for me just a fun and easy dessert wine. It's not the most complex or different, but for the price point it does have some interest and it's semi-affordable on many restaurant menus. There's a lot of sweet going on here (even a bit more than in the average year as I understand). Lots of orange peel. Light acid so not totally gloppy. This one seems to hit the more primal brain of 'I like sugar' than the more nuanced 'I like wine' side at this point, but still good.

Smells rich. Nice acidity to balance sweetness though. It’s medium bodied at most. Apricots and dried pineapple. Feels more developed than what you’d expect as a three year old.

NobleRottersSydney - decent Chardonnay & Pinot (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {375ml, screwcap, 10.5%} [Geoffrey] Vanilla bean nose, with sweet apricots on the nose. Glassy apricot flavours, but vanilla bean dominates. Medium sweet in the Noble One tradition, and medium weight; the medium level acidity can’t quite keep it from tasting a bit simple overall, despite a medium length finish. Age doesn’t really add complexity to 21st century Noble One from my experience, just a gentle patina which isn’t really worth the sacrifice of the vigour of youth.

The wine looks yellow gold colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like honey. The body is medium. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

NobleRottersSydney - less common GIs (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {375ml, screwcap, 10.5%} [DavidM] Coppery nose. Glassy apricot aromas. Flavours are coppery too, with rich mouldy apricots, cumquats. Medium sweet in the Noble One tradition; seductive but mushy, and with just enough acid to hold it up but not enough to give it a long cellaring life. Drink up and buy the next vintage too.

"2019" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/7/2018-10/12/2018 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {screwcap, 10.5%} Despite its youth this seems to be developing quickly, with massive apricot and honey aromas, with a burnished quality. The palate is luscious and honeyed, rich with botrytis. Medium-sweet, with medium acid – but not enough to really lift it properly in my view – and medium/full weight; it’s as rich as you’d want although a bit more acid would counter the hollow character I seem to detect on the medium-length finish. Might improve in the shorter term.
