Decanted for 3 hours before drinking. This was a supremely enjoyable wine, one of the best of tasted - and I have had different vintages of Penfolds Grange. This was a 1993. It still felt like it had a year or two left and was drinking well now, however if you read this and you have a 1993 I would suggest drinking before 2023-2024.

amazing bouquet - deep deep black fruits and just right amount of leather, amazing balance, sweet, tannin, acid, oak, age, dried herbs, poise, some spice - a little like christmas cake, then deeper earthy notes, length for hours - could still taste it at the end of the night

Deep and mysterious aromatics, plum cake and Australian wild flora. Lovely mature shiraz sweetness on an even abs balanced palate- notable lush with some skeletal oak nuance.
Always enjoyed this rare vintage. It’s still loaded with fruit though in gentle decline ( perfect cellar )

Unfortunately this bottle was on the slide. Slow ox for 2 hours and decanted and drank over the next 2, hoping the whole time that it may turn with some air. But not the case. The nose was promising but it turned out to be false hope. It's still a good wine and easily drinkable, but past its prime. Obviously a let down at the price point, reputation and ensuing expectations

Good cork. Mature colour with orange brown rim; still bright with medium depth of colour. Initial taste on opening quite rough. Decanted and let it open up for 2 hours. Robust nose - black fruits, some orange peel notes, mint, pepper, cigar & tobacco, oily cedar - lovely. On the palate the wine had lovely soft entry, smooth, black fruits, great mouthfeel, well integrated tannins, firm acid, very long persistent finish. Kept improving over dinner - excellent with food - had with ribeye steak & teriyaki salmon. Great wine, some years left - maybe 3-5 years based on this bottle.

Lovely mature but lively appearance, medium-deep, shows excellent viscosity; on the nose deep and spicy, opens up to black fruit, with secondary aromas of leather, tobacco, forest floor and a hint of toffee, pungent strawberry topnotes - initially even slightly lactic; the palate shows real old-vine (130 years) concentration, satiny texture and an almost balsamic quality, powerful but seamless, lovely lift from the acidity provides finesse, still has good tannic grip, well-structured but with a lovely sweetness, flavours of pepper, leather, hint of raisins, echo of eucalyptus, a whiff of strawberry; excellent finish, excellent length. Fully mature but no signs of fatigue.

Had in Hampton's with Smith's and skirt steak dinner. Superb, with nose of raisins and tobacco, 20-30 sec finish. Paired excellently with steak and roasted veggies.

NobleRottersSydney - Langtons Classification (Darling Mills, Glebe): Deep red fading to garnet at the rim. Wild, brambly nose of exotically-scented berry/cherry fruits. The palate is velvet smooth, strong yet fine tannins are absorbed by the fruit richness, which pretty well saturates the palate. Great length of finish too; this is a beautiful, seductive, sybaritic wine to wallow in. Maybe not the stuffing to make really old bones, but why should every vintage have to be that?

Still got fruit & structure. Drinking okay, maybe past its peak but still drinkable but not worth the money.

Lovage notes, no fruit,no rating. I was excited. It was my second HoG and this one a little bit aged

Incredible grace and balance with impeccable precision and intensity, should be renamed "Peak of Grace", Nicole Kidman of Aussie Shiraz
