A tale of two wines - both a bit short of greatness. First night on opening, the tannins were tame and it was all red and blue fruit flavors with a hollow mid-palate and a good finish. My comment was it would be better night two. Not exactly. Not worse, but not better. A little nondescript.

Prune and ether on the nose. On the palate, currant, blackberry, cherry, and notes of prune, cocoa, and black pepper, with moderate to strong tannins and strong acidity on the medium to long finish. This is meant to age, and it's early in its drinking window with room for improvement. This was an average to good value at about $50.

Decent wine first sip was good. Well balanced with rich dark fruit, tannins and earthy. However the finish wasn’t as great in fact tasted like it was spoilt, may just have been this bottle.

Decanted 2 hrs. Though the aromatics started off quite nicely, my first few sips had a lot more oak than I was expecting. After about an hour of drinking, the wood backed off, and it was clear there is very solid material lurking beneath. Pretty black cherry and some cassis vie for attention, solid earth and tannins, nice combo of sweet and savory, respectable back half and finish. Definitely too young right now, give it 3 to 5 years to settle in. I don’t think though, this will touch the Ferguson vineyard, which is by far my favorite from the folks at L41.
Very dark color. Nose of cherry, cocoa and leather. Dense flavors of dark red fruits, tobacco, currant and baking spice. Meaty finish. Has lots of stuffing and should be good for a long time.

Cranberry and coco nose. Soft plumb on the pallet. Meggan thinks chewy. Dry finish. Could age but very drinkable now

Good but not great wine. Definitely do not agree with Jeb Dunnuck’s 95 point review. What was he drinking?

Minimal slightly hot nose. Dry chalky and tannic. Several years left. Much drier (and more to my liking ) than the Bordeaux wine we were drinking.

A very good wine. A great value. A smooth and full bodied Bordeaux style blend.
