  • Fruit bomb. Well balanced and structured. Drinking well now.

  • surprised with how much sentiment was in the bottle. Spices, smoky, fruits. What a complex and beautiful nose this is my god, I could just smell it without drinking. It was tannic at first but then became silky in texture. Worked perfectly for holzhofer cheese and then with the flap steak.

  • Nice out of the bottle, even better with a decant of at least an hour

  • Smoke, bay leaf, chili powder, tobacco, cardamom, graphite, ripe dark plums, ripe blackberries, ripe blackcurrants and cured salted meat on the nose. Smells VERY oak driven, at least after a pop and pour. The palate is a bit fruitier, but overall pretty consistent with the aromas. After an hour in the glass the spice notes get more muted, though they never fully go away. Secondary flavors and aromas drive this wine. Medium + intensity of flavors and aromas.

Full bodied with medium acid and medium + tannins that build. Generous and giving. Oakier and higher tannins than I expect for Merlot/Pomerol, and it feels a bit like a hot weather wine as well. With an hour decant, though, this is drinking very well right now. It can obviously go for 5-10 more years too.

  • Similar thoughts to the other TNs. This is a beast. Super tannic at the beginning. Teeth staining extraction. It grows on you and really needs to be drank with food.

It’s a 90 point wine today, which may improve with cellaring - but cellaring isn’t going to change the style of this wine, which can best be summed as being “big”.

  • Surprised by the large amount of sediment — though maybe I’m just getting old and that’s common with 2016 vintages. Delicious depth. Nose was a bit subdued showing cigar box

  • Very dark ruby/red. Viscous legs. Intense nose of flowers, plums, touch of vanilla and thyme. Palate is young, primary, with lots of dark plums, some earthy tones and more flowers. Finishes long, complex and with mouth-coating tannins. It feels like a good quality wine with plenty of upside. Nice! Me like!

  • A savory Bordeaux, still very young. Flavors of cast iron and dense dark fruits with dusty tannins. But does have some heat and raisinated fruit on the finish that I generally find unpleasant. I think no matter how much the wine opens up with age, these characteristics (alcohol and raisins) will remain - so I’m not a huge fan.

  • Uncorked and poured a glass. Initially very closed, tannic, bitter, with some noticable alcohol. Very dark in the glass, medium body. Took a sip, wasn't very impressed, and left for dinner. I could feel the bite of the tannins from that sip throughout dinner. Returned 2 hours later and it was slowly starting to open up. Smoother, dusty tannin, and more fruit emerging. More savory then sweet. The higher alcohol slowly starting to burn off and integrate. Acid was there, but tannin more prominent. Medium finish. Could tell it had more to give so I decided to decant the rest. Very little sediment in the bottle. Definitely needs a long decant to get the most at this point. Drank over the next 5 hours and it slowly improved. Seems like it is still very young and can go the long haul. Maybe slightly too hot at 14.5% alcohol? I will let my other bottles rest a few years before I revisit. Overall it was a nice wine, just needs a lot of air to get there at this point.

  • Dark inky black with lovely dark ruby rim. Nose has blueberry, blackberry, mint, clove. Luxurious mouthfeel, dark fruits, plum, sweet but with a savoury element. Powdery tannin that is well integrated. Good acid spine. Excellent length.

  • Young at this stage, but not too young. 3 hours decant and still evolving in the glass. On the nose: dustiness, mint, eucalyptus, deep cassis, licorice. Comparable palate, although a bit thin mid palate with cassis, cherries, black berry, clove. Long finish, medium+ tannins, medium plus acidity

  • Kind of modern style, higher alc % at 14.5. Not my kind of Pomerol ...
