2nd time that I have encountered this cuvée in 2 different vintages with the same impression. We could of course debate the fact that the restaurant where I had this 2016 served it to me too cold in an ice bucket (!!!) but the result was the same as the first time.
Discreet nose on hydrocarbons.
Straight palate, very delicate on melon, some citrus fruits and wet stone. On the other hand, I have the impression that the wine lacks substance once again, leading to a flinty finish and a beautiful minerality but without anything transcendent.
Good riesling but nothing more. Short and lacking substance even when warming up. Perhaps I simply don't understand anything about this cuvée.

Wines drunk around London; 1/3/2024-1/7/2024 (London, UK): Deep and succulent right away as it permeates in the glass with liquid rock, meyer lemons, a touch of oily notes, red apples, quince, gunflint, spiced pears, jasmine, apple blossoms, and some saline. The Full bodied feel is deep and silky with mouthwatering, high acidity that is coming into balance. This is a real beauty. It’s beginning to hit its stride and has many years ahead of it.

(tasted blind) Mostly dry, with just a little RS that rounds out the texture rather than adds much sweetness. Classic aromas and flavors petrol, lemon, lime, and jasmine flower, with the addition of a leesy brioche creaminess. On the palate I get a crisp green apple character as well. Very elegant, a little austere. Curious what would be an idea pairing for this, would be fun to try again with the right food.

Tasted blind. Loads of peach, petrol, lees, jasmine flower, intense perfume. Felt dry (but not surprised to learn there are 2 g/L residual sugar). Ever so slight tertiary note of oxidized brown apple, but mostly zippy green apple. Perfume is almost a little too intense on the palate (verges on soapy -- but not in a bad way). Correctly guessed it to be Riesling from Alsace. This tastes expensive! And honestly, at $90 is a pretty good value.

Kind of expected more from this wine. It’s sort of hollow and feels incomplete relative to other vintages. It lacks fruit and finishes dry and short. Curious if age will lead to improvement. Will sit on other bottles for a few years to assess.
November 2023 Riesling Tasting (K&L): Cool, steely, and dry on the palate. A mineral-forward wine with a hint of white fruit and citrus that has a long, tangy, acid finish. A young CFE, but a really good one.

Showing fine, rich, wonderful acid driven complexity, though still a baby. Drink now - 2040. Drank at Bellota South Melbourne. A glass there 2 weeks ago was mildly corked. I was told that this is not unusual with Trimbach, who are reportedly disinterested in the issue...

Lovely color. The nose shows ripe aromas of peach, nectarine, white flowers, minerals and a hint of salt. This is medium bodied on the palate with excellent concentration and real class. The fairly long finish features a resounding mineral element.

Pale gold. Fine, complex, reserved nose. A baby. Looks deceptively simple as other comments reflect. Rich yet austere. Less phenolics than Zind-Humbrecht. Very fine but needs a further decade to begin to emerge.
So weird - pro tasting notes going back 3-4 years and just one user note.
(Poured at the domain from a freshly opened bottle) Nose is popcorn and petrol. Crisp and direct. Acidity is more pear focused. Good body and precision with a lot of enjoyment that I don't expect from a young CFE. OTOH, came across really basic and honestly a bit boring.
By the glass. There is a fright between acidity and a sweet touch here. Citrus versus pear in syrup. Decent length. Exclusively for those who really appreciate this kind of things.
Por copas. Aquí hay un duelo entre la acidez y un toque dulce. Cítricos contra pera en sirope. De una decente longitud. Exclusivamente para los que aprecian de verdad este tipo de cosas.

Vintage and Vine Grand Cru Riesling tasting (Bentley Bar & Restaurant, Sydney): Medium minus intensity aromas are earthy and savoury with lemon & stone fruit in support. Tangy and tight, positively grippy in fact, needs a lot of time to come together.

Colour - pale yellow
Nose - mineral, whiff of petrol, lime and lemon

Would love to have this with raw oysters next time, have a feeling it'll be a great match.
