This was disappointing but in a good way if that makes sense. I remember this bottling -meaning Jimsomare, not vintage -being exotic with minerality and always perfumed. This bottle lacked that. It was a quality zin however with deep red cherry and tobacco, some clove. Mouthfeel was rich. It took a while to reveal itself but a solid drink although I had anticipated something else.

15.1% abv. Dark ruby, very aromatic. Really an impeccable Zinfandel. Beautifully balanced, wide open, but energetic, great fruit and integrated tannins. Wish I had more!

Monte Bello Zinfandel??? Deep burgundy/oxblood. Smokey cherries and red plums. Vintage leather, tobacco and black pepper. American oak vanilla and spice.
A unique old vine (19th century) vineyard located up on Monte Bello. Ready now but easily could hang another 5+ years. Not made every year but worth seeking out.

Consumed at horizontal tasting of 2013 Ridge Zin's. This wine added to get input on potential drinking window; Consensus was it is worth giving this beauty another 4 years, then start drinking. Most of the group preferred the 2013 York Creek Zin front end, but the Jimsomare's finish was lovely and more promising. Overall it ranked 2 of the 9 wines tasted.

Great intensity, purity and depth. Should continue to improve for several years.
