Yatir, Forest, 2003: A perfectly mature Israeli wine, showing like I would love many more Israeli wines to show with age. Very dark garnet in color. On the nose, ripe, crushed blackberries and wild blueberries, with hints of cigar box, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. Full-bodied, concentrated, with a rich, velvety texture. On the palate, sweet (but not datey) wild blueberries, blackberries and black currants, followed by black licorice, spices, cinnamon, vanilla and cloves, medium-acidity and well-integrated tannins on the rich and chewy (sediments) finish. Great with a fat, smoked chuck roast. 15% Abv. Drink up. 93

Top Israeli wine tasting (my home): dark red-purple wonderful Bordeaux style nose with cedar, blackcurrant and dried herbs. amazing! full bodied, firm tannins, nice acidity, rich ripe fruity flavours well integrated, smooth, mature, with notes of leather and some oak-vanilla, as well as spicy hints. Silky and round. Long enjoyable finish. Seems at best even now.

I thought this was amazing. Very mature, still nice fruit, black and some red berries, well integrated, smooth and mature. Not bold or fruit forward, deep and dark. Drink now, but you will be rewarded for your patience here.

Still going strong and not showing signs of age. Bordeaux-like on the nose with cedar, blackcurrant and dried herbs, but on the palate more fruit-forward, with a slightly sweet mid-palate and only a hint remains of that green pepper. Silky and round.

The oldest Forest I have had, and I believe the second vintage they made. Still bright and fruity, with big, bold flavor. One of the best Israel has to offer, it is really fantastic, and seems to have a lot of life left in it. Been 2 years since I tasted it, and it has continued to mature, I wanted badly to give this one a 94, but it's not quite there. Wow.

Almost black. Blackberry jam, cloves and a hint of green pepper on the nose. Chewy, big bodied wine with a ripe fruit core, very nice fat tannins and a slight sweet, Port-like finish. I'd say drink between now and 2013.

Full body, deep garnet red color, highly aromatic, ripe fruits, floral and sweet wood aroma, forest berries and oak on the palate, ripe plums on finish, long finish, powerful, bold, rich texture, complex but dis-balanced, low acidity, too sweet, very tannic. Food friendly. Associates with meat. Serve 18º - 22º. Open six hours in advance or decant about hour. Young, drink next year to 2014.

Dark black purple color. Still needs time to open up. Fresh cassis. Fine/gripping tannins in harmony with fruit/acidity/oak. A slight sweet sensation. Full bodied, clean texture. A slightly spicy finish. Elegant, but still muted, probably a lot better with time.

A beautiful bottle! Deep garnet color, nice nose, well-integarted tannins, this wine is clearly full of power and will continue to develop. This wine is very New World in style, strong and fruit-forward. Definitely worth a try. 4.5/5 stars.

Good fruit. But disappointing. Not as big as I remember. Maybe just a bad bottle.

Wonderful and now fully mature. With dark fruits on the nosa and pallate, all fully integrated now, what a treat

As good as it gets. Dark, almost black in color, full bodied with black fruits and still intense tanons, this one is still firmly on the way up. Wow.

I remember this bottle being much better last year. I think it was corked a bit.

Montreal Offline: Eclectic wines (No fixed theme) (Restaurant Chez Christophe's): My first Israeli wine.
Deep ruby red. Nice nose of fresh tart fruits. With a nice tart (Mouth puckering) feel of fresh fruits. Short disappointing finish with OK balance.
