  • Medium body, bright golden colour. Intense orchard fruits, spices and dried flowers aroma. Creamy peaches, pears and pineapple palate following by mineral, almond finish of good length and gentle acidity. Still fresh, complex, harmonies and balanced. Food friendly, well pairing shrimps. Open half hour ahead. Serve 12ºC - 14ºC. Drink now and the next couple years.

  • Continuing to drink great. A little hint of the exotic/tropical adds interest and depth. In a perfect place right now. Serve a little warmer than refrigerator temperature but cooler than cellar temperature. Strive for 48-50 degrees service.

  • From vines planted in 1953. A bigger, more broad-shouldered Chablis. Definitely a little wood to this. Butter on the nose, round texture suggests some batonnage? The vintage helps to balance the roundness out with just enough cut.

  • I’m continuing to love this wine. Some tropical fruit notes, with stone fruit, melon rind, and a well placed delivery of minerality to accompany the yellow citrus core. Such a sense of completeness and fullness for a 1er Chablis. This rivals its bigger brother Les Clos GC.

I’ll plan on drinking my stash of Montmains VV now and over the next 3+ years.

  • Loving this wine right out of the gate. Some swirling in the glass really opened it up nicely. Maintained energy and freshness, while all the while delivering a notable degree of concentration and depth considering its roots. This showed a "little engine that could" push of flavors throughout consumption.

The Malandes was served next to a Leflaive Setilles that had similar pizzazz, though the Malandes carried an additional layer of depth when compared to the Leflaive.

93+ points (maybe pushing 94?). Drink now and over the next 3-5 years.

  • So if you want a back-the-truck-up type of wine that way over delivers for its price point, this is the one. Beautifully pure and clean flavors of wonderful yellow citrus, fresh squeezed lemon juice, lemon drop, lemon verbena, pear, and faint stone and vanilla bean. The grip and acid on this little monkey are in complete check with the palate-coating lemon core flavors. Well weighted and slightly viscous, this has a hint of modernity but still sticks close to its Chablis roots. Vibrant, fun, and super tasty.

At $26, this is a stupidly awesome tariff. Drink now and over the next few years.
