  • PnP. I grabbed a few of these because my sensei, Seth Rosenberg, seemed rather pleased with it. I wish I could say my experience was just as exciting, but it was merely 'good'. I gave this every chance, including following it into day two, but it never really varied after its initial starting point. I'll go ahead and chalk it up to bottle variation and I look forward to the other two that are still in the cellar. NR

  • Initially lightweight and simple, but gained interest as the wine warmed and opened up. These will need some time. Upside from here.

  • 2009 red Burgundies, TDS x CMJ (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Somewhat neutral nose with a bit of waxiness to it. The palate doesn't show quite as much acidity as I would expect for chardonnay, and given the waxiness and a slight phenolic bitterness on the finish, I guessed that this was an aligoté. In any case, I don't think chardonnay was at the forefront of my mind. In hindsight, having had this right after the Pillot probably affected my perception quite a bit. Revisiting later though, I still didn't find this to have the mineral cut of a typical Chablis.

  • This was so pure and refined as it opens up beautifully with tones of saline, oyster shells, flint, green apples, limes, lemon peels, white fruits, white flowers, and crushed rocks. This is what spring smells like in Chablis form. The Medium bodied feel shows off the refined quality of the nose along with great depth and racy, high acidity. This could still use another few years to mature. The acidity has some real sting right now and the tones aren't in full harmony just yet.

  • Used the traditional Pinot Bowl for this one.
Needs at least 30 minutes of air and a chill in the fridg.
Smooth and lemony with just a slight tartness. Nice minerality.
Simple, yet extremely satisfying at the same time. Great warm weather sipper.

  • Another great bottle. The nose shows crisp lemon, maybe a touch of lime, nice cool herbals, and lots of minerals and shells. Iodine. Lively and focused with lots of flavor. The palate and finish are just great. Crisp, delicious, great acidity and verve - sweet lime, herbs, shells, brown spices. Long lemon and shell and spice finish - with a nice hint of sweetness. Lovely. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5-5.5/6, Finish - 5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17-17.5/20.

  • So beautiful - just enough creamy richness and all else is lemony oystershell. Lunch with J, who also enjoyed it.

  • Found this at a excellent price so I split a case with Z. Opened up a bottle immediately. Very good if not quite singing like my previous two encounters w this wine.

  • So someone (Jay I think?) shared this double blind as part of our zoom tasting group. I loved it. Then I mentioned it to Zak, who bought some and loved it too. So now I bought a bottle myself. PnPed. This is good. Nose shows classic with shells, iodine and steely minerals. There is also some lemon, lemonheads, and a bit of peach. The nose started out more assertive and then got a little bit more shy. The palate is flat out delicious - salty minerals and shells, a bit of lemon, very savory with some green and grass, a bit of iodine and brown spice. Finish is salty and savory and has good length and great snap. This is a very different and more classical showing than in the zoom group - but that taste had been open for a while and in small bottles. Both times this is excellent and full of energy, verve and flavor. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 16.5/20.

  • Double blind from a small bottle. Someone gets White Burg right away but then we struggle. Not Meursault - correct. Not Chablis. Wrong. Very pretty - sweetness and a bit musky and florals and nectar/pollen. Lively stones a touch of wood and caramel? Rock candy (Pineapple). Bit of banana. Palate more classic - minerals and shells lemon, some banana

Day 2: Very pretty nose - like a Riesling-lover’s white burg - racy, lots of citrus fruit, good sweetness, and lots of minerality - there is a core of sweet fruit: both citrus (lime, lemon, tangerine) and orchard fruits - I think some red apple and nectarine, some cumin and spices, and florals -honeysuckle and pollen and nectar. Touch of wood. Maybe hints of tropicals. Delicious on palate - lots of zesty and sweet fruit with serious acid and sharp well integrated minerals - some shells and iodine come out when trilled and into finish - where they combine with the citrus and apple and nectarine and maybe a bit of banana - usually I don’t like the tropicals in my Chablis but here it somehow works - not ripe or heavy at all. Touch of wood. I really like this. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5-5.5/6, Finish -5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 16.5-17.5/20.

  • Great wine. Broad and creamy entry and a precise, saline minerality to the rest of the palate. Just beautiful.

  • The Last Few Weeks; 9/1/2020-11/2/2020: Really liked this. Aromas of flint, pear, and white florals. Palate was great...very precise tones of cool citrus and light floral notes. Such a great value.
