  • PnP. I grabbed a few of these because my sensei, Seth Rosenberg, seemed rather pleased with it. I wish I could say my experience was just as exciting, but it was merely 'good'. I gave this every chance, including following it into day two, but it never really varied after its initial starting point. I'll go ahead and chalk it up to bottle variation and I look forward to the other two that are still in the cellar. NR

  • Initially lightweight and simple, but gained interest as the wine warmed and opened up. These will need some time. Upside from here.

  • 2009 red Burgundies, TDS x CMJ (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Somewhat neutral nose with a bit of waxiness to it. The palate doesn't show quite as much acidity as I would expect for chardonnay, and given the waxiness and a slight phenolic bitterness on the finish, I guessed that this was an aligoté. In any case, I don't think chardonnay was at the forefront of my mind. In hindsight, having had this right after the Pillot probably affected my perception quite a bit. Revisiting later though, I still didn't find this to have the mineral cut of a typical Chablis.

  • This was so pure and refined as it opens up beautifully with tones of saline, oyster shells, flint, green apples, limes, lemon peels, white fruits, white flowers, and crushed rocks. This is what spring smells like in Chablis form. The Medium bodied feel shows off the refined quality of the nose along with great depth and racy, high acidity. This could still use another few years to mature. The acidity has some real sting right now and the tones aren't in full harmony just yet.

  • Used the traditional Pinot Bowl for this one.
Needs at least 30 minutes of air and a chill in the fridg.
Smooth and lemony with just a slight tartness. Nice minerality.
Simple, yet extremely satisfying at the same time. Great warm weather sipper.
