this was lovely from the get go. Enticing nose with hints of grapefruit. Very balanced palate with classic Chablis qualities. IN great place now but can hold if your lucky enough to have more

Cork perfect. Color is dark straw. This is juicy but also structured and very fun to drink. I think that this will hold but no need because it is firing on all cylinders now.

Thumbs up!

91-92 pts

Notes of apple and citrus, with a bright mid-palate featuring some salinity and herbal notes that linger through the finish. A nice acid backbone keeps everything in balance.

92 pts

Hot darn I am liking this producer, only recently found and could maybe rival my favorite Droin? This is certainly close, however compared to Droin I find this a lot more approachable slightly less mineral and more delicate, yet don't let that put you off. The nose had more ripe yellow apple , apricots, peach and less stones or oyster shell characteristics, the palate felt bright and slightly rich with ripe orchard fruit, crushed stones, good concentration on the mid-palate and a medium well-defined finish. I tend to enjoy Chablis on the younger side so would drink this now over the next year or so, I don't see this improving but this is perfect now. 92+

Doesn't have some of the wild, almost tropical notes this wine can sometimes have, but there are notes of decadence like my grandmothers canned peaches. It has good shape and cut and is easy at the table or on its own. There is a funky density to this that will be interesting to watch open up.

Decanted for 1.5h. Nice aromas of iodine, seashells, ocean spray, chalky minerals, lemon and lemon peel. Lovely palate with tart apples, lemons, ocean saltiness, iodine and chalk. Very linear at first but the palate rounds out nice as the wine warms. Nice lingering mineral finish. Straight ahead, honest chablis. Lovely.

While the 2015 of this recently was quite exotic, the 2017 is much more textbook Chablis with that little twinge of exoticism that this cuvée often has. There is a note of candied orange peel with slightly caramelized sugar that is a distinctive tone here. But all the rest of it is classic Picq. Citrus, oyster shell, unadorned Chablis.

Domaine Gilbert Picq Visit with Vintage '59 (Chicheé): Brief tasting note, winery visit. Lemon, stone, some brine and mineral flavors. Lots of fruit and very good persistence, this showed well with a little time in bottle.

Drinks on a higher plain, even beyond most 1er Cru bottlings. Everything you want from Chablis, and incredible value.
