Could be a higher rating. Losing a step in power, but gaining in integrated structure. Dark fruits and leather, with round oak notes and beautiful forest leaves.

Well balanced and integrated silky dry tempranillo. Requires a good 30+mins to reveal its character. Classic dark fruit, earth, leather, vanilla notes. Would be great with beef, charcuterie or even solo. Drink now.

Spanish Tasting (Bistro Cocotte, Haberfield): Baked black fruits married to minerals, a tiny struck match note, a touch of jubiness and red fruit lends freshness; raspberry and strawberry, slight vanilla and caramel underpin. Juicy, black and red fruits then some chalky tannins start to dry the palate, fruit carries beneath this. Simple but nice, time will soften the tannins and lend some tertiary characteristics but there is an inherent freshness here. Nice.

Still ... the ... one... holding its own and maybe even improving still better integrated than two years prior. I had bought a case to share with a friend. We should have made it two. Solid tannins with typical Ribera fruit, lengthy finish with mellowing acidity.

Has improved nicely over the past year. PNP into decanter and drank with pizza - got better with airtime.
Dark red / black in the glass. Tart cherry, black cherry, tobacco, leather on nose. On palate, medium+ body, medium+ acidity, medium tannins and long finish. Similar flavor profile to palate. Decant if drinking now. 90-91 range. 90+/- today.

Not decanted before tasting. Deep red color. Intense nose with cherry pit, warm soil and coffee grounds. As I have found in previous vintages, this Pesquera has the combination of dry and juicy. Fruit forward and young, but with a strong backbone of tannins. Starting to approach a very good age phase for my palate. Ripe cherries and hints of bitter coffee grounds on a long finish. Again, the QPR is outstanding.

Earthy with brett, high acid, slight VA, high alcohol, elevated tannins (ripe and grippy), and a raisination thing going on - dried tomato. Dark fruit.
In hindsight, RDD makes sense, but I haven't tasted enough to get a sense of the style. I didn't pick up on overt oak. The producer site says 18 months in mix of French and American oak, of unspecified age - I'll need to work on my oak sensitivity.

Tasty, a bit lean, but shows deepening on some hours in glass. Even shows some structure on the end of the third night. Classic Pesquera. This has potential.

Double decanted about 2 hours before serving. This is a very good Pesquera, although perhaps not as good as the 2012. Intense plums and spices in the nose and initial flavors with moderate, relatively non-astringent tannins, with a full mouth feel and moderate finish. Wine could use a couple of years in bottle. Look forward to purchasing a few more of these; although the purchase will compete with the 2011 Muga seleccion especial.

Day 2 --- Darkest blueish red --- Nose sour tones, cherry, some barnyard tones left from day one, nice acidity --- Palate watery, nice acidity, cherry and other red fruit exploding like a geyser, blueberries, some nice elegant wood notes, some spiciness --- Finishes on its intense, fruity charachter. It was disjointed yesterday and after a day opened it has come together. However, 2-3 years of aging will definitely help and the vine could be outstanding then. Fruity, elegant, challenging and pleasing at once. 91 for now but believe in 93-94.

4 Deep purple in color with matching aromatic intensity with dried plum, fennel, and leather layers brushed together artfully. A perfect balance of med + acid and tannin bodes well for the future of this wine, which shows dried herbs, licorice, and black fruit on the palate with a noteworthy finish. A definite benchmark for Crianza Ribera. Excellent.

At Club La Santa, Lanzarote, €35 off the list. Youthful, ripe dark fruits, touch of vanilla, full bodied, soft tannins, good depth of ripe blackcurrant fruit, touch of plum, balanced acidity, good length harmonious finish. Very good, drinking but no hurry here.

Licorice, burnt wood, spices. Good acidity and dominant tight tannins. A little too spicy for me but softened a lot over time decanting. Notes coming from the new american oak barrels are too dominant for my taste.

I worried this was like the other storied Spanish producers and would be all coconut and American oak no matter what.
Instead, I got a nice, rustic, absolutely ready, red wine. Highly recommend.
There are brambly black fruits. At this point (in this bottle) they are modest and tart. Very food friendly.
Drank in roasting hot temperatures. The hallmark of a great Euro red is that it can perform under a baking sun. Very nice!

Drank over 3 nights. This is my least favorite vintage of Pesquera ever. Flat and uninspiring.
While the wine had good structure, no complexity here. Very disappointing and would not buy this vintage again. 85+/-
Pesquera is a great producer and this is a vintage specific issue in my opinion.
