A really well made Assyrtiko, though on the heavier and fuller end. Lots of citrus, pink grapefruit, fresh almond, touch of caramel. A pronounced minerality and some green notes on the finish. An amazing deal for the money!

Lovely lemon yellow color; nose redolent of sweet Apple blossom, brown sugar and carame. Delicious fruit on the forebpalate; plenty of residual sugar offset by mineral notes on the mid-palate. Long flinty finish. A solid entry in what had become a long string of successes for Sigalas.

Four pairs of wines at Mark's place (Wellington, NZ): Served double blind by Nick in a pair with the Kavalieros. When I drink Assyrtiko blind – because I don’t drink a lot of it - I typically pick it as Chablis. Not with this pair though. They had a richness of orchard fruit that could not be Chablis. I thought they might perhaps be Rhône blancs. … An interesting wine. Darker gold. A nose of pear, peach, blanched nuts, mandarin, spices and traces of salty minerality. Rich, full and opulent on palate. Blanched almonds, grapefruit, nectarine and yellow apple. Some apricot pit bitterness and salt lick on the finish. Ideally hold until 2024+.

From 75cl, DIAM10 closure, P+P, which was a mistake, as it improved greatly over the subsequent 2 hours. Basically as noted here on 24.03.2021, but tonight it was the intense salinity on the nose which won hearts across the table. Gorgeous now, no hurry. Just be sure to give it air. 92P
PnP. On the nose sweet blossom, minerality and with more air a hint of hazelnut, superb and complex, on the palate high acidity, lot of substance without being heavy, nice bitter note and a saline note, medium to long finish, seems as it needs some more cellar time to come together. Again a wine that brings you into a dilemma, drink soon to have the best from the nose or wait to have the perfect mouth feeling.

From 75cl, DIAM5 closure, opened but not decanted 1 hour. An outstanding bottle, even better than the one recorded on 15.11.2020. Bright dry salinity dominates on the scent, entry and mid-palate. Surprisingly full-bodied, with some of the spritzy, white-fruit/melon/grape conventionality suggested by my GC/Riesling comparison in my previous note, but even those references are becoming more abstract/meineral/saline as the wine matures. A fabulous match with seafood and mediterranean hors d'oeuvres. No hurry if this bottle was anything to go by. 92P

From 75cl, DIAM5 closure, opened but not decanted 1 hour. Bone dry, intensely mineral, brightly acidic, with citric depth and structure. Unlike some disappointing bottles of the 2015 vintage tasted earlier this year, the superdry and lightly bitter mid-palate pays brief reference to a purely fictional 50/50 blend of Riesling/Grüner Veltliner, perhaps from the Wachau, without becoming insipid, let alone sweet. Long resonant finish. Outstanding wine, outstanding value at 22€ release price. Hope this won't go flabby like my bottles of the 2015 did, but probably best to consume in the next couple of years if you like complex crisp whites. 91P

Pale yellow hue. Nose pleasant not overly remarkable- slightly citrus, mineral. Light to medium bodied, sophisticated palate, no single note but crisp, citrus, melon.

I served this in my wine course. Tropical pineapple and slight orange blossom nose. Medium to full bodied. Finishes with decent acidity, but also comes across a bit too hot to garner a higher score. Would have liked a bit more fruit in the finish.

Wow, I love this wine, especially at this price. Refreshing, lots of well-rounded but crisp flavors here: pink grapefruit and lemon zest represent the citrus elements, and there is a nice oak backbone plus some secondary green apple and tertiary saline flavors. The alcohol is definitely there, especially when you first open the bottle, but it's pleasant and relaxing rather than punchy or hot. The perfect wine to drink on a porch as you stare at the sea, or else while you're standing in your kitchen wishing you were by the sea.
Came up with same score as the last bottle 2 months ago, but slightly different notes.
Pale/medium straw. Fresh white pear, clean stone. Medium+ in body palate has really nice zesty tropical fruit. More of that fresh pear, kiwi, and white pineapple. So very tasty on a warm summer evening.

Medium straw. Nose throws off white flowers, something slightly saline. Green apple and pear. Nose takes the backseat to the palate which is terrifically enjoyable. The medium to full-bodied palate has tons of light white and spiced yellow fruit. It's quite quaffable. Decent length on the finish. Lemony and oily texture in the mouth. Nice presence. This is good stuff.

Very mineral aromas. Is there a fruit flavor that’s associated with Assyrtiko? I’d give it a little citrus pith nod, but generally 98% in mineral territory. Very stone-y mineral on the palate too. Stone-lickingly refreshing, as long as you don’t swallow it. The stone. Excellent example of Santorini Assyrtiko. As I let the finish ride out, there’s a modest peach fruit note that makes for a quite memorable wine.

Fin sitrus på nese, men litt tung og med hint av søtladen frukt i munnen. Litt tyngre enn andre assyrtiko vi har drukket. Langt fra nivået til Kavalieros, men likevel en helt grei vin.

This is superb. Creamy texture, lemon curd and great acidity. We had it with several Greek dishes and it nailed every one, even the Cypriot meatballs.
