My experience and opinion of this wine tonight is one of being non-plussed and underwhelmed. I found it to be a mid-market, mid-weight product, medium to nondescript in every trait from nose to palate to finish. What fruit there is here is tired and any sense of tannins or acidity have retreated and a4e hiding. In a word, blah.

Appearance: Clear, medium ruby. Nose: Clean, medium intensity aromas of black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, and hints of garrigue, black pepper, and cedar. Palate: Dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins, and medium+ body. The flavors on the palate reflect the aromas on the nose, with additional notes of plum, leather, and spice. The wine has a long finish. Quality: This is a very good wine with balanced acidity, tannins, and alcohol. The aromas and flavors are complex and well-integrated.

Excellent Pope! Made by Ogier. Nicely in it’s drinking window, soft, smooth, rustic with cooked red fruit, plums, cacao, leather, liquorice, well integrated tannins and dark spices, especially black pepper.

Very nice. I quite like this house. Well balanced, pretty red fruits, medium acid, tannins present but not overbearing. Firm red berry fruits from start to end. Nice.

Young and fresh but also welcoming and granted at the start of its drinking window still drank relatively well. Bright fruit dominates, light slight and touch rich. Good 89 and was a standout in the wine list of Anglesey Arms, London :)

By the glass. When I drank young wine from this winery for the first time, what I liked most was its typicality, the certainty that it reflects the terroir and the style of making wine from this part of southern France. The years have gone by and I keep the same opinion: a wine that can be enjoyed in its youth (notes of spicy and fresh red fruit) or in its maturity (complex multifaceted and elegant aromas, deep flavors of Avignon grounds). I always have a loose bottle in my warehouse accumulating dust.
Paris - Stockholm - Umeå - Tokyo in 6 days; 11/26/2019-12/1/2019 (World): (Picked it up on CDG on my way to the wine-tasting.) Compared to the wines of some age, this came across as a stunningly jammy, over-the-top, cheap, bag-in-box wine... It had some of the good things that CdP can serve, but with THAT amount of brambles... I can only hope that it transforms beautifully as it matures.

Young and relatively light for a CdP. Drinking well in this window. Good QPR
