A Taste of Serralunga Dinner-La Festa del Barolo 2024 (Locanda Verde, New York): Also deep ruby although the lightest of the 3 Massolino wines. Swirling fruit aromas. Deeply fruited and sweet in the the mouth, although it remains bright and lively and has a leaner feel due to stronger tobacco and tar elements. This is perhaps the finest and most detailed wine of the triad.

At Lalibera, Alba. €80 of the list. This was quite evolved with leather and mushroon dominating, medium bodied on the palate, again leather, mushroom, some vestiges of red fruit, soft tannins, fresh acids and reasonable length. A bit disappointing.

Assertively primary- fragrant rose and violet, saturated dark red fruit, eucalyptus. Concentrated but compact, constrained on the palate. Lots to like I don't see profundity here.

Classic - lots of tar, plenty of tangy fruit, juicy and aromatic but with a strictness and tannic backbone that's entirely Serralunga. Fumy dark cherry and raspberry. Better at first - closing down after 30 mins of air. Not sure this will ever be profound, but it's not at all 'hot' and it has plenty to give.

Grapes from 1.11 hectares of south-facing parcel in the Margheria vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba. 340 m. over sea leavel. Calcareous soil with a good deal of sand. Average age of 35 year old vines. First production year in 1985. Traditional in style, 15-20 days with fermentation and maceration at 31-33 ° C. Matures in oak barrels for about 30 months. 1 year bottle maturation.
Crystal pure dark ruby red in the middle and a touch of orange border.
Rich and very appealing aromas. This is pure joy that jumps intensely out of the glass with red juicy berries, very deep and energetic salt minerals, a little wet ground, an underlying tar nerve, licorice boat and clearly tight exotic spice that seduces.
Pretty full-bodied Barolo with delicate mouthfeel. Richer style and more available already with the neat combination of tightness and yet so delicate. Powerful red fruit, leather, salt, mushrooms, spices and hints of mint. Firm tannins that really take hold and tighten again. Long powerful finish with a touch of alcohol. Not in total balance yet. Seems a bit unresolved, but the potential is very large. Give the wine 10 years in the cellar. Very good wine. 92 points.

Tät röd färg. Mörka bär och örter. Kanske toner av the. Frukten börjar tunna ur och tanninerna är lite dominerande. Men en bra och solid barolo.

Floral and elegant aromas with some garrigue and herbs. Delicate, focused and concentrated, with fine tannins.

Lys kirsebærrød. Nesten helt stum nese. Får ikke mye ut av dette nå. Aromatisk innesluttet også i munn. Mye tanniner. NR.
