This is a very classy and elegant wine that pairs really well with any type of red sauce. The mouth feel is light but the dark cherry flavors are just so rich and pronounced The finish here is long with lots of those classic dry tannins you think of with a quality aged barolo. This wine was made to enjoy with food think rich cheeses and red sauces. For me this one is in the peak drinking window so the wait is over and it is time to enjoy. Can’t wait to try some of their more recent vintages, this is a wine I always keep my eye out for.

Tolle Kirschnote, viel Zug und Grip. Hintenraus leichte Bitternote, die sich mit Luft besser integriert. Fordernd, macht aber viel Spaß und hat noch Potential!

Strawberries, iron and violets on both the aroma and palate. Acidity is medium-plus with a sharp character. Tannins are medium-plus. Body is medium. Overall, it is an interesting barolo. Definitely too young; very sharp which will calm down with time.

Tannic to start, light red color, medium weight, when the food arrived the wine opened up and the tannins smoothed out, drank in restaurant, $62 due to mistake with non barolo nebbiolo, crowd enjoyed, good complexity, should develop more in time but quite good at the moment, drank with arugula salad with parmesan cheese and veal chop, the cheese really complemented the wine, would drink again. 14.5% abv.

Pronounced nose intensity with black fruits, black currant, black cherry, spices. Medium+ acidity and tannin. Full bodied and long finish. The tannin was smooth and not harsh for a young vintage like 2015. Drinking beautifully. Did not decant due to time constraint and it will certainty be better given decanting.

1 hr decant and sublimely enhances the "Easy Eggplant Rollatini Recipe (used arribiata sauce)https://www.themediterraneandish.com/eggplant-rollatini-recipe". I have 20+ of the 2016 Pio, which I prefer, but only on potential just yet. Today, this '15 is ready to rock when paired appropriately. 93 IMO

Pale ruby garnet rim. Smoke, tar, dried rose, sweet spices, earthy and some savoury. Palate filling tannins, good intensity though not very complex at this stage. Need time.

100% Nebbiolo from estate vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba (Ornato, La Serra and Briccolina), Grinzane Cavour (Gustava and Garretti), La Morra (Roncaglie), Novello (Ravera) and, since the 2015 vintage, the recently acquired vineyard in Monforte (Mosconi). Vinified in stainless steel with ~25-30 days skin contact and maceration. Aged ~30 months in large French oak “botti” plus a small amount in barriques. 14.5% Abv. Founded in 1881, by Cesare Pio Proprietors: Famiglia Boffa: Pio (4th gen maternal descendant of Cesare Pio) with Augusto (cousin), Frederica Rosy (daughter), Cesare Bebvenuto (nephew)
Classic style with blending of regional parcels, yet without over-extract and drinkable early. Appeal on labels (front and back): Don't call it "regular" just for lack of specific designations!

Interesting -- very good -- much lighter and less intense than prior vintages we have tried. We checked to see if it was a second wine -- appears to be the real thing!

Bright acidity, despite 14.5% abv no heat, black fruit, cherry, leather and forest floor precede a long finish with expressive tannins. Elegant, structured with reasonable complexity. Very enjoyable and top dinner companion. Finished the bottle over dinner with no effort whatsoever.

Quite approachable, lush fruit, a delicious wine with good length of finish. Not profound, not that one would expect that from such a young wine. It was perfect with the Italian cuisine that accompanied it. Would be happy to drink this again.

A very well structured wine. Built to age but tonight difficult and closed. There is a definetly perceptible touch of vanilla in the closed fruit which made this be the pivotable moment. This is a wonderful potential wine. Needs 3-5 years.

I am being told global warming helps Barolo a little bit. Classic vintage. Stiff tannins, a goodly amount of structure. Majority of fruit from Serralunga and that shows. and then from all the other four crus.

Pale with redcurrant and menthol with a sappy, tannic and intense palate of redcurrant fruit. Much too young now but the structure for the long haul.
