Opened, poured andlet sit about 40 min. Then: Darkish fruit on the nose. Taste is darkish fruit, but not much of it and lacking any syrah profile; softish mouthfeel; medium weight; tannins and acidity are OK; not much finish. Pleasant, tasty red wine, but disappointing as a syrah; just not much there. Hard to see this improving and becoming more syrah-like.

Winemaker Mike Smith hit this one right on the nose. Great with a rib eye at my favorite steak house. This baby has weight to it along with everything you’d expect in a small production lot by a top wine maker. Kudos!

Hmmm a bit weird if you ask me Smoky green bell pepper, meaty, olive tapenade some decent fruit flavors but the finish has the same oddness as the initial sip.,
For me it’s not a repurchase 2nd night...raspberry fruit emerges onto the nose along with previous aromas..on the tongue now some black pepper, better fruit , but still overriding green bell pepper....up a point to 90..but not my fav style

Covid diary: I couldn't tell you what this tasted like. My sense of taste isn't gone so much as a badly-tuned instrument. Girlfriend said this was on a par with the othere 2017 Myriad syrahs - delicious. For her > Halcon and > Anthill.
In a syrah tasting amid new/old world wines of that variety. Decanted in bottle for 90m. The wine showed a fair amount of wood in our lineup, with evidence of barrel toast and unresolved tannins. It is otherwise well balanced in terms of acidity and alcohol, but the strong pyrazines in this bottle became overwhelming by the end of the night. I've never had more bellpepper on a syrah... I may dial the whole cluster back a bit in this year's release.

This bottle was expressive from the get go. Lots of olive tapenade, smoked/cured meats, lavender floral and even a little rocks type funk. I probably would have guessed WA syrah blind, actually. Full bodied with nice tannin integration - and bone dry as well, far less sweetness than Alban's Patrina at a similar price point. It held up very nicely over several hours and (because of the purity of the aromatics) was favored by a few folks that usually prefer cabernet. Great wine, Mike
Tasted alongside a TON of other random things and this stood out - this is really smooth, great depth, touch of char but mostly red fruit and a mist of olive thanks to the integration of the whole cluster. Smooth (there it is again). Finish is moderate. Not sure how long this will hold up time wise - likely the better part of 5-10 years, but is certainly capable of pleasure now, no reason to hold back, especially at this price. 50 cases - didn't release it was that small of a production!

Very good. Dark fruit melange, bramble and spice. Good length and flavor. Medium body. Drink or hold. 91
