Portland Paulee (Oregon Historical Society, Portland OR): This is wide open and perfumed as it fills up the glass with red cherries, strawberries, raspberries, a touch of herbs, black tea notes, violets, spice tones, and a touch of sour red fruits. There is still a primary nature to the nose, but it is well in balance and showing off good depth. The Medium bodied feel carries through that balance from the nose while showing off integrated, medium+ acidity and silky, medium tannins. This is really open for business while it still shows off a good amount of primary fruits. Everything is in balance though while showing off good depth across the nose and palate.

Peaked around 2-3 hours in. Great earthy red fruit aromatics that lead to a concentrated palate. Elegant acidity closes out the sip. Excellent rose petal perfume that develops over time.
I've enjoyed Potel's 2005s both times I've had it. I was sad to hear his other years weren't as exciting. Went great with slices of slow boiled beef tendon and pickled beets.

Powerful, if a bit angular and not sure that ever resolved itself. Concentrated dark cherry fruit, silky feel, long finish. Put on weight in the glass but started to fall off a bit after 4 hours. Tasted against an 05 Prieur Corton Bressandes and an 06 Williams Selyem Hirsch over NYE dinner 2021-22. The CB was the better of the 2 burgs the whole way and the Hirsch started off strange and almost flawed but amazingly was the best of the 3 after 6 hours. Prob will hold my other Potel bottle for a number of years but wonder if it will be better.

side by side with an Aubert Ritchie 2010 pinot noir. this was amazing. nose and perfume was seductive. so light in color and lithe and silky - fresh tasting - can easily last another ten years. excellent

With Helen. I must have bought half a case of this as I have a number of notes going back to 2011. Always rated 92 to 94. In 2014 still dark brooding complex fruit and undergrowth nose, good tannins, will last. This time more closed on the nose but plenty of fruit on the palate and very soft. Good levels of acidity and tannins. Drinking well now, if I had more I'd be tempted to keep it and give it a chance to open up.

At 7y of age, the wine has opened a small window to let us in. But it is still very tight. Fruit and alcohol are well balanced, but this wine has so much more to offer. It was too early to open.
