Unfortunately, Cavedog is no more! Michael Havens is moving to Spain and will set up a winery there. California was unkind to his latest efforts and essentially closed him down. What a loss! His reds were some of the e best out there.

Served chilled, bright nose with honeysuckle and minerals on the nose; crisp citrus and apricot notes on the palate, nice finish. Choose this Albarino to pair with pappardelle with marinated artichoke hearts and lemon caper cod.

This bottle was likely the best Cave Dog Albarino I've had. It had great intensity and stone fruit flavor, overall balanced with firm acidity. Well made and simply delicious.

Best bottle of this yet. Really citrusy and white stone fruit driven flavors with good acidity and a creamy mouthfeel. Paired perfectly with lemon chicken.

Badly corked unfortunately. That's 2 bottles out of 6 over the last two vintages where there has been some sort of flaw so hopefully just bad luck on my part.

A great example of Albariño: lighter in color, crisp, acidic, balanced light fruit. I had this with a French creamy cow's milk cheese that was "meh" on its own, but sang with this wine.
Medium straw color. Fruity nose of peach and citrus with a bit of honeysuckle coming through. Similar flavors on the palate with fresh peach juice and a slightly oily texture. Medium acid and probably could have used a touch more for the amount of fruit but overall a very tasty, crowd pleasing wine.

From a plot winemaker Michael Havens established in 1997, the 2018 Cave Dog Albariño opens softly, almost humbly, with lilting notes of cherimoya, lemon tart, and apple blossom. With time in the glass, it blossoms, the expression on the palate is especially delectable. Round and lush, a quartzite vein runs through the center—where it peaks and ebbs—leaving in its wake the impression of apricot skin, quince paste, and spice—a hidden and perhaps richer undercurrent that’s not entirely present on the nose. Aging on the lees has graced it with textural richness and impressive length. 13.0% ABV | Sample

Popped and poured. We've loved Cave Dog's Albarino in the past, and this 2018 doesn't disappoint. Started with it chilled, and it picked up lots of flavor as it slowly warmed to room temperature. Crisp acidity and flavors of citrus and green apple for me. Very refreshing.

This is an excellent Albariño that easily supplemented my thermonuclear pesto.

Consistent with previous bottle. Nice concentration of fruit and seemed a bit crisper being served slightly chilled. Very food friendly wine.

Light straw in color. Super crisp and acidic with steely, wet stone and tart apple flavors. I love this clean refreshing style from Michael Havens.
