A little bit herbal aromas at the start then goes onto typical leathery, earthy, chocolatey sandstoney blackberries+raspberries+figs. Its medium bodied satiny nice elongated well oaked refreshing zingy black, blue and red fruits mid palate and ends mediumish and a bit unknit. Drink now or drink in next 2-4 years. This is characterful. 13.5%.

Not decanted - which in retrospect was likely a mistake . . . as consumed, the nose is somewhat closed, with nondescript red fruit in mouth. However nice earth notes, medium body. Good acidity, moderate tannins at this point.

89 points Bouquet beautiful classic Rioja with cedar, tobacco, leather and dark berries, little vanilla and oak. Palate very smooth and balanced but a bit boring, acidity maybe too much in the background. Finish medium to short. Need decanter for 2 hours. Summary all good, safe choice, for higher points lacking of own character.

Note taken after 2+ hours in the decanter. Lovely cherry nose, with notes of bay leaf and tobacco. The palate shows a nice balance of earth and fruit. Give this some air and enjoy now, but should hold for another 5+ years. A well made wine.

Forward and dense bouquet of cedar wood, sour cherries, minty chocolate, toasted vanilla pod and leather. Classic Rioja and this needed time for the nose to fully open up. The palate is full and rich with flavours flowing from the nose. Good concentration and depth. The minty element provided an interesting lift to the otherwise woody scent and opaque structure with much of the fruit hidden. Full-bodied and powerful. Transitions from entry to finish has no gap but not entirely seamless. Fine tannins. Finish though lingering had some hollowness. The woody component is still very prominent for now. A good decanting of at least 2 hours resulted in better balance. Its Reserva has better balance for immediate drinking. 88-90 pts.

Mature nose of currants, saddle leather, coffee, barnyard and figs. Medium to full bodied with lively acidity, some grainy tannins and soft fruit. It's well balanced and drinking well now.
