  • Still a very powerful and vibrantly powerful wine, with plenty of life left. Dark reddish brown color. Plenty of blackcurrant fruit on the nose. Beautiful work.

  • Tasted this together with a Montus '05. Don't know if is the difference in vintage or style of the wine, but the Bouscassé was alot more jammy, blackberries and an almost Port-like style to it. Not bad, but not what i had expected.

  • Disappointing besides the 2005.
    Muted nose, some green notes, grass and cedar.
    Green, harsh astringency. Medium acidity, no intensity to speak of. Watery and short. This seem to have been a weak vintage.

  • This vintage starts to open up right now and is showing some development. The acidity is still great and the tannins are a little bit smoother compared to the young wine. On the palate we get nice spices, dried fruit, some earthy notes and leather. Oak and alcohol are well-integrated and contributes to some finesse and elegance. A great wine that that drinks well now but may be cellared for many more years.

  • Provning Chateau Bouscasse 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008:
    1 Sep 2012. Samtliga med hög syra och strävhet.
    2004 - tegelfärgad och klar. Smakade bäst av de jämförda vinerna. Ren, men något liten doft med tydliga drag av hallon och pinje. Klart avrundade syror och balanserad men ändock påtagligt mycket strävhet kvar. Medelfylligt med lång eftersmak. Mer kryddor och fat i smak än doft. Smakar blåbär, med toner av choklad och lakrits. Borde finnas utrymme för ytterligare ett par års lagring för att växa i smak.
    2005 - röd, klar i färgen. Börjar öppna sig men upplevs trots åldern mindre mogen än 2006:an. Doftar köttigt och örtigt. Relativt fyllig, ganska sammansatt, len, ganska lång eftersmak. Doft och smak av timjan och mandel. Spara.
    2006 - tegelröd. Doft av fat, kryddor och kaffe. I smaken sträv med grön paprika, björnbär. Något bitter, men lång eftersmak. Intressant att se hur vinet utvecklas på ytterligare ett par år.
    2008 - lila i färgen. Frisk, intensivt druvig doft. Påtagligt mycket syra med viss strävhet. Pepprig och fruktig i smaken. Lite bitter ton i eftersmaken. Bör definitivt sparas några år för att slipa av kanterna. Upplevdes lite spretigt nuläget.

    D - svart frukt, ekvanilj, mandelmassa, sv vinbär, plommon, viol, baconfett
    S - medelfyllig m viss mognad, slank mångfaceterad frukt, vi hittar både röd o blå frukt, hallon, körsbär, plommon o sv vinbär, markerade lite gröna tanniner, infattad syra, ek o vanilj

  • O - mörkt blåröd
    D - sluten, okomplex m blåbär, björnbär, hallonkola
    S - kryddig attack , medelfyllig, m begynnande mognad, ganska söt fruktig mittsmak, hallon, björnbär, blåbär, fatkryddor som sötlakrits o tobak, matvänlig tanninstruktur som kan integreras ytterligare, ren ganska kort finish.
    Fin utveckling o vinet blir bara bättre o bättre varjegång vi provar.

  • - Brick color with medium forming legs and aromas of blackberry, black currant, licorice anise and cedar. It's balanced and has flavours of cedar, licorice anise, black currant and blackberry with a medium/full body. Linear texture with a long finish - Very nice, the years have made this a good wine. Cassis, plums, nice tannins. Great with entrecote bea and potatoes.

    S - tydliga tanniner, grön paprika, mörka plommon, björnbär, tobak, choklad, något örtbesk, tanninerna mjuknar av sältan i maten, lite ihålig mitt och alkoholhet avslutning med äppelkärnor och aningar om romrussin

  • Madiran and the Wines of Alain Brumont (Vinothique, Queen's Road, Singapore): 100% Tannat. This had been decanted for a couple of hours like the other Madirans in the same flight. A deep purple colour, the nose was more restrained than the Chateau Montus 2004, but still showed rather expressively, wiith meat, plums, pepper and mineral with just a hint of cloves and flowers towards the end. If served blind, I would have sworn it was a Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The palate had a very different feel though, with fresh berries being the dominant flavour, along with just a little savoury, meaty strain playing a counterpoint. Clean acid and grippy but fine-grained tannins that coated the teeth gave the wine a sense of being well-shaped and delineated all the way into its pleasant finish, which spoke of dark fruits. While certainly not a bloackbuster, it showed a good amount of concentration. I think this wine did not have the complexity and stuffing of the Chateau Montus from the same vintage, but I found it gentler, more supple and rather more refined in terms of feel than the former wine. It would be interesting to see how they age side-by-side. Very pleasant wine.

  • This wine need some air before consumption! Gives a little dark berry on the nose and some wood..not a whole lot. On then fore a touch of vanilla, then spice. Loads of tannins. Pleasant, long finish. Can taste herbs for a long time after a sip. Would love to taste this after a couple of years in the cellar.

  • Sweet fruit on the nose, a bit like merlot, quite dense. Vanilla on the fore, then sweet pipe tobacco, sage and other herbs. The palate makes an interesting contrast with its dryness and astringency. Gives some liquorice and aniseed, and makes a very good food wine to accompany mediterranean cooking. Tannat with 30% cabernet sauvignon. Cellar for a couple of years.

  • Dark berries, earth and a mouthful of tannins. Astringent drying finish even after 4 hours in the decanter. Way too young. Nice backbone of fruit though, could pass for a nice albeit extremely tannic Bordeaux look-a-like. This is a new release at our monopoly and for approx $14 I wouldn't mind hiding some away in the cellar.

  • Straightforward and pleasant on the nose. Corinth raisins and spicy cloves. Really good dark jammy fruit, even merlot fruitcake, some blueberry compote, liquorice, aniseed and iron. Well made cask character on the palate, with butterscotch, vanilla and liquorice. Tough fruit, good acidity and somewhat hard and edgy tannins. Good balance, the nice finish lingers without excessive heat. Serve with grilled red meat this summer. But don't forget to cellar a few.
