  • 2015 Au Pied du Mont Chauve Chardonnay Bourgogne

Ripe yellow fruit, a touch of oak, butter and wet leaves. Round, and rather fat on the palate with good acidity and really good length. Has evolved nicely and fattened out a bit since I last tried it half a year ago. Very good QPR!

  • 2009 Giuseppe Quintarelli Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

Had this beside Romano Dal Fornos Amarone 2010. And the difference couldn't be more distinct. Where the Dal Forno is dark and almost black. The Quintarelli is lighter, more transparent and with a lot more brown at the edges. The nose is a lot more spicy and with obvious volatile components in the form of paint bucket and glue sticks. Marzipan, dried figs, raisins, bruised apples, cherry Heering Liqueur and sweet chocolate. Sweet on the palate compared to Dal Forno and also with less acidity and tannins. High intensity and a long finish. Feels rather traditional in it is style and the long maturation on wood is fairly obvious. Though I prefer this to Dal Forno as this is more Amarone and thus true to it's style I still find it a bit too sweet and enjoyed his Valpolicella Classico more.

  • 2010 Romano Dal Forno Amarone della Valpolicella Vigneto di Monte Lodoletta

Intensely dense both on the nose and on the palate. Rich dark fruit, blackberries, black cherries, mocha coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla extract and baked raisins. Full bodied, pronounced alcohol warmth, rich, generous fruit, but not overly sweet. A bit of tannins, but in no way rough. High intensity and a long finish.

Impressive wine for sure, though i find it lacks a bit of nuances and blind could have ended up guessing a california cult syrah or an Australian presrige Barossa.
