Dark and intense with smoke, berry and dark cherry notes on the nose. Soft and mellow at first with firm acidity on the finish - juicy black cherry and dark plum fruit. Really good food wine which worked well with some pasta with procuitto, kale and mushrooms.

Nose notable for being highly aromatic if not really nuanced, with smoke being the dominant note. Quite aggressive palate feel mellows a bit on Day 2. Authentic but not the most pleasing Dogliani.

Deep ruby color with purple hints. Cherry and currant tones with nice hints of violet. Medium bodied, smooth and structured on the palate. Medium finish. Drink now - 2009. Good QPR.

Deep ruby color, slightly purple on the rim. Aromas of raspberry, cherry and blackcurrant with hints of wax and floral tones, nice!. Medium bodied and smooth on the palate, but not as exiting as the nose. Medium finish. I am not familiar with this DOCG yet. Current acid/tanine/fruit balance suggest to me a drinking window now-2008. Very nice first encounter with this DOCG.

Bright magenta red. Initial notes of balsam, neutral wood, and a bit of heat - but with a little air, things softened to more a floral and sweet persona. Tight acidity greets and grips the tongue, yet the velvety layers of bright cherries make the youthful acidic push more than bearable. Good length and I really liked the slightly bitter / gritty finish as it seemed to balance the wine out as a whole. A strong dolcetto showing, though I’d like to revisit this in another 12-24 months as it rounds more to form.

Nose still closed, some red fruit and sweets; hint of spicy flowers (geranium?). On the palate searing acidity but also a lot of red fruit (cherries), with some kirsch and soft sweet tannins underneath. Lingering aftertaste with a slightly bitter finish. Very good, needs some time.

Similar to first note though a tad bit simpler in flavor.

rich dark color, soft mouthfeel, a bit thin in the middle. Very good. Sottimano's 05 dolcetto is better.
