  • Wine of the month and perhaps beyond, wow. The clear color completely caught me completely off guard with tidal force that hit my tongue a few days ago. The essence of a pure green apple concentrated into 4 oz in my glass was hard to articulate and with such grace and lightness of touch. Blows away my “Prum paints in water color / Donnhoff in oil postulation – This is Monet at apex or pick your artist, I took the obvious route 😊 – I literally just kept staring at my glass wondering how good this was. Oberhauser Brucke is rapidly becoming my favorite site n the Donnhoff portfolio. This score is conservative, I can see this getting even better in time. Clear the runway. Absolutely enchanting

  • From a 375 ml. Light golden yellow in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of yellow peaches, apricots & apples with overtones of floral notes of honeysuckle, minerals, ginger, spices & a hint of Botrytized honey in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, zesty, ripe fruit flavors of stone fruits of yellow peaches & apricots & citrus notes of lemons/lime with minerals, spices & honey. Excellent balance between the sweetness & firm acidity. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present but will certainly develop further with additional aging at which time it should rate even higher (95+). [A.P. Nr. 7753010 23 19; Alc. 7.5%] An absolutely amazing wine.

  • Simply outstanding in its youth. Super fine. Will age wonderfully. Best to wait at least 10 years. The bottle we had from 1996 at the same time showed its potential!

  • Simply outstanding - just tried at very young stage but the potential seems to be huge.

  • Ferocious acidity together with the right stuffing. An excellent wine, but in the next decade. HOLD.

  • Ripe peach, white flowers and lots of sweetness. Good balance but perhaps a bit too sweet at the moment. Will improve with age and obtain a better balance.
    Still, a very lovely wine.

  • Method: Half-bottle, served cold (out of fridge) and enjoyed as it warmed up, out of white wine glass.

    Look: very pale straw(?)

Nose: a bit closed; stone fruit / peach, light ginger

Palate: ripe white peach, sharp ginger, salt, a bit of minerality; ginger and white flower on the medium+ length finish; medium+ body, with rich mouthfeel; medium+ sweetness; high- acid

Overall thoughts: Although it's drinking quite young, this is a great wine with big, pure fruit and ample complexity from spice and other notes. At this point, the sweetness is at the forefront and seems a bit higher than most Auslesen I drink, especially compared to the acid, which, while pretty high and sufficiently balanced, is more gentle / less electrifying than what I've experienced in other Auslesen from other recent vintages. While already great, I suspect that this will be even better down the road as the sweetness better integrates.

At this point, with the higher level of sweetness, I think this makes an especially good pairing for a fairly strong bleu cheese.

  • Tasted at a trade tasting in NYC. Another delicious wine great balance of fruit, sugar and acidity. Bright fruity and moderately sweet. I went back and forth on which I liked better, this or the Hermannshöhle Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel. Hard choice. Both are beautiful and will age marvelously.
