A nose of brown fruit, Christmas spices, licorice and pepper. Warm and sunny wine, baked fruit and licorice on the palate. Lovely inexpensive Cairanne from a great vintage.

Fruit in the darker end of the spectrum, towards brown, very well structured. Pepper, lots of pepper and garrigue on the palate, very spicy. This is a great Cotes du Rhone and it doesn't stop here. Many more years left. Early BBQ at home after having biked 63 miles with Jamal and Grant early morning.

A very nice and still young Cotes du Rhone. Focused cherry fruit with a spicy edge and a good tannic backbone. A bit closed right now, typical for the 2005 vintage in the south. Excellent.

nose: nice filling nose of blackberry, leather, creme de cassis, peppercorns, and bits of dark spices and briar notes
taste: nice black fruit flavors on teh palate with black licorice, creme de cassis, and dark spices
overall: this is a tremendous wine. great as a pop n pour with nice racy dark notes on both the nose and palate. It's a bit thin on the mid palate and doesn't have as long of a finish as I'd like, but this is a pure steal at $14

An experimental purchase. Dark purple color. Simple grapey flavors. Harsh and vegetal on the midpalate. Noticable acid and heat on the finish. Rough-hewn and rustic. Drinks like a low-end Vin de Pays. I had much better wines from this producer during my Rhône visit in May. This was unpleasant overall and is not a good value despite the $10 price, IMO. 70-75 points.
Update: Just noticed that the label has a "temperature dot" that is dark black. So, this is very likely a cooked bottle.

Tasted at the domaine and was impressed with it. This was the first bottle I've had in the US and it is showing very well. A very perfumed nose with rich black fruit. On the palate the wine shows all the black fruit from the nose as well as very nice minerality. Wonderful balance and a real bargain. Cairanne is an area to look hard at. There is a lot of great stuff coming out of there.
