2021 Guigal single vineyard cote rotie release dinner (Bel & Brio, Barangaroo): Concentrated, cedar, almost sandalwood, dense, dark fruits, sweet and savoury spice; peppery. Smells like it's going to be thick and chewy, touch of baked earth, plum almost prune. On the palate there is some fresh acidity to help things along, tannins are drying, chalky textured, chewy and persistent, fruit, unsurprisingly, is as the nose and persistent, touch of liquorice as well. Another beast.
